Oil Or Water?

Diesel works wonders for me, not as slow as oil but not as crap and thin as water, Waynio introduced me to it via Bucky i think and its a cracking idea

I used to use water but it feels too thin and crappy after a while

You wont get a answer mate, you'll just get a couple of pages of oppinions.

Most people (including myself) bum water, others like the slow crappy feel of oil :P

To prevent the couple of pages of opinions, here's a direct link to a past maggie topic with; if I'm not mistaken, 36 sets of opinions here

Hello everyone.

I was just wondering wat people use and what works best"oil or water"?

Now i am running water at the moment and should i stick with it or get an oil bleed?

chears john (Y)

I would use water because it is free :P and oil is quite expensive also water works better than oil most of the time.

i feel u get more off a solid feel ina water bleed because there are less particals and so on...

and withe oil it is full of bits and bats wich makes it thicker and it don`t realli move as quickly as water,, but becarefull in winter as they sumtimes freeze up but it can be sorted by heating it up and pullin the leavera few times (Y):D

hope i helped

use distilled water if you do as this will prevent your seals from rotting. But remrember water has oxygen in its compound therefore as its starts to degrade(break up) the oxygen will turn into little bobble which in turn will make the brake gain an air bubble. I would stick to the oil as this is what the brakes are made for and i havent noticed any difference between oil and water and i think it is all in the mind people saying there is a difference. Thats my opinion though and that is what i recomend.

thank you

Just like the guy said in the first post, all it will boil down to, eventually, is personal opinion. Before i was sponsored i used to bleed my brakes with oil to save having to fork out £70 every six months (which i think is the main arguement for most people). But, now i get them cheaper i use water purely because the feel is great and much more responsive.

Also, regarding what someone said earlier 'oil is slow' most of the time it is. But if you can master the art of bleeding a brake well with oil, which some of my friends have, then that would be awesome.

Danny.
