I myself have always enjoyed the 04' stlye but the tpa's are rather tempremental and non of my riding buddys have the 05 levers so have yet to try them. any help and feedback muchly appreciated.Cheers....MrSuave
Dan6061
'04 for me. I've had a go on a couple of bikes with the '05 ones, and they feel alright... I guess I'm too used to the older ones. The lever blades on the '05s seem to keep your finger on. In comparison the the 04s which your fingers can slip off the ends...
CurtisRider
with the 04, you get the option of running different blades, and they seem to be made of a slightly stronger cheese metal than the
CBProductions
You should change the options to 04 that dont break because of the design and 05 which break under a fly landing on it and pooping. The internal tpa isnt all its cracked up to be , I find the 05's lovely but just lacking in firm reassuring feel. Get the 04 and bodge a nice bolt for a tpa

CurtisRider
You have the choice with '05s too. not a fresh blade though, cos face it, the standard and cnc maggy blades are ming, if i ran a maggy all id want to run on the rear is a fresh, or if i really had to, an rb made to fit in

PaRtZ
04's for me. Feel nicer and the TPA doesn't get screwed as easily
Will Arnold
i prefer the '04 model, but bear in mind all of the deng levers only come in '05 version!
Prawny Baby
interestingly.......a month ago, i would have SWORN by the 04 levers, as all the 05's i had felt had been HORRIBLE.thing is, all the 05's i had felt were totally standard, on average setups. and all the 04's i was used to, were on very sorted bikes, bled with water, fancy boosters and pads, the usual.then, i rode a bike with an 05 magura, that had had a fair bit of time spent on getting it perfect.it was bled with water, used plaz crm pads, and a decent booster, and MY GOD. it felt amazing! the lever feel was SO positive, as good if not better than any 04 brake i have felt.tarty had been telling me for a few weeks that the 05's were better, and so had Edd, but i didnt believe them, until i rode Ollys planet X, and my mind was instantly made up!i also had a feel of CLS's brakes in abingdon, and the cnc lever blades felt VERY nice, and appeared to be a little longer than the standard lever.my new ashton will have an 05 lever body with a cnc echo lever blade, so ill give a report on how it feels then! MikeCottTrials
05's for the win a definate improvement over 04 in my eyes. the lever feels better although i do think it will probably break easier than an
ben_travis
not a fresh blade though, cos face it, the standard and cnc maggy blades are ming, if i ran a maggy all id want to run on the rear is a fresh, or if i really had to, an rb made to fit inhave u ridden with one of the new levers? i mean a new 05 lever WITH a cnc maggy lever from the likes of deng etc.....???i think u might change your mind if you rode one. i love mine. YES i DO HAVE an 06 adamant lever they rule haha
flipkickbs
Although they are both weak as shite, the 04 is slightly stronger than the 05, so thats why i use them. So far i've snapped seven 04 lever bodys, and one 05 lever body (none from hitting the lever). Obviously they are not designed to be put through the pulling force used in trials, but even so, for the price paid for one, i would at least expect a good half year from each one. I'm sure some people on here have the know how to design and make a stronger lever body..... Saying that, i do like the feel of the 05 and with what people are saying about the new lever range i may eventually try one out. onzatprodude
i said 04 i think they're alot more comfy but not sure about the strengh as my last one cracked it might of just been a stroke of bad luck though.also on my old maggura the tpa rounded off put i like to have a tpa as i dont have to keep setting up my pads...so i was wondering if any of you guys knew how to prevent rounding your tpa? cheers
MrSuave
Thanks for all the input chaps. After speaking to the Tarty boys, looking here and various other sources , i settled on the 05 levers in fetching silver. i also bought black 4bolt echo control forks to run them properly and they are now on the bike, cut to length and setup perfectly. Im running cnc heatsink cousts on the rear with grind on onza rim and heatsink booster and plazmatic crm's on front with onza rim, the one with holes in the sidewall! its hilarious. makes the most individual nose ever when i drag the brake, its like spokey dokeys on LSD but i feel its having a 'cheese grater' effect on the pads , Ah well, new rim as well then!I like the feel of the levers. very positive and taught although the actual blade itself seems a tad short to me but im sure ill get used to it... All in all, pretty pleased with them, just need a real good ride to thoroughly test them.Once again, Thanks to all, much appreciated....MrSuave
