Janson
I used to run gears for a year or two, but switched back to SS again. Much easier..
NirZionTrials
is it right to say that singel speed is safer for riding?in sence that the chain has less posibility to fall.
STEVE-0
Gears but with no cable so kinda single speed...but you needs gears for like the BIU championships etc so i keep them on.
IOLO
single speed, and gears on for comps,i hate gears to the point where after a comp , i go put my tensioner back on just to ride with people after the comp.iolo.
ManxTrialSpaz
Why do you need gears for comps?
Luke Rainbird
Little thing called rules.Annoying for many, some are fine with itPersonally I don't ride competitively, so singlespeed does me fine.Cheaper, lighter (not that that bothers me), less to go wrong etc...Advantages to gears too, but I'll stick to just the one... Ben Geary
I run single speed, i used to run gears but then relised after a month or so that gears are wank for street and there in no need for running them as i only ride street and i've never done comps, Hopefully will be doing some soon though.Single speed saves a weight quite abit aswell and is alot safer as you don't have a shifter in the way incase you knock it whilst doing something and then it changes gear in a gap etc, it's rare that it will happen but it's happend before as one of my mates was telling me.Single speed is the way forward for me the only downside is that i can't get to places fast and have to pedal like a madman to get to places. _skj0lsvik_
Singlespeed is the only way forward.edit: My current gear ratio is 18:16, but I am going to change to 18:15 as soon as possible. craigjames
currently gears, but singlespeed soon, sick of busting mech hangers. could learn to side hope both ways properly but tis just too much effort plus i only use one gear 22-17? it thinkcraig
T.McMillan
i use a cassette, but hold the derailleur in place with a cable tie and a shorter chain helps holding it out of place, i run 22tooth up front and 15 on the back, what do all you guys use ratio wise? NirZionTrials
well i guess singel speed is the way, i been having so many problems, the chain just fell off a couple of days ago and i was over the handel bars and on the ground in 0.5 secends.. and yes it hurts i got a chris king singel speed kit, and i run a 16t on the front, that means i need a 14t on the back right? jimbo666
im thinking of using a 17 cog and a 11, so i can both ride trials then ride home. i was thinking of using a old style roady shifter just under my seat so i can adjust the mech to suit the cog. hopefully this should work has any one tried this?
