Luke Drewery
I bought a pair of try-all shoes about 8 months sgo now (possibly longer) and I have been using them ever since. They do offer a lot of ankle support, and their stiff body and soft sole do give a very nice feel. I would say try a pair, as I was sceptical too but it turns out they are good. However I am not going to buy another pair, but rather get a pair of Orchid BMX shoes or something like that, they are still made for riding but can be worn casually too and they are much cheaper. Brian Bleech
I wear etnies rooftop (brand new off ebay £30) which is a proper bmx shoe and is very comfortable, grippy and offers ankle support! Trial shoes are good and imo ribo are the best, but a good bmx shoe are cheaper, look better, better made (than some trials shoe) and just as good. I just can't justify £90 for a set of ribos. TheMunn
I'm currently riding some shimano dx flat shoes and I have to say they are the best riding shoe i've worn, although this only comes from wearing different types of skate/bmx style of shoes as I haven't used any proper trial shoes like ribo/try-all. But they are very very good, really comfy, they have protection for the laces which comes in handy quite alot, they offer a high inner ankle so you don't bite your crank arms. Overall a really great shoe, I can't see why I would need to buy any other brand, i've been using these for atleast 4-5 months and the soles are still very very good, and the shoes are generally just a little dirty. They seem to be lasting quite a while, the soles grip very well on all kinds of pedal. (double cage trials ones on trials bike and your standard style platform pedal on my other bikes)So, another thing to add to the list of good shimano products. Yep, got 2 pairs of Orchids here that I got for £30 each on sale from www.sourcebmx.com I wear etnies rooftop (brand new off ebay £30) which is a proper bmx shoe and is very comfortable, grippy and offers ankle support! Trial shoes are good and imo ribo are the best, but a good bmx shoe are cheaper, look better, better made (than some trials shoe) and just as good. I just can't justify £90 for a set of ribos. Ditto. £90 for a pair of shoes just for riding in isn't gonna happen for me. If I felt like I was somehow being desperately held back because of an item of clothing I may one day think of laying down £90 for something like that, but that's pretty unlikely...
