Mech Savers

Mech saver

Is this something new or are you talking about them things you find on cheap XC bikes? If so, can't think why it wouldn't fit on a Pro 2 axle/bolt. I took mine off as it only protects the mech from sideways damage!

Prob not what your on about ....but hey ....you try :)

I made myself a steel mech hanger, it was really easy, I just used a hacksaw, drill and a file.

I have had it on my bike ever since I got it and its never bent, and I have landed pretty heavily on the mech a few times.

give it a go.

Ali C - what kind of thickness steel did you make that mech hanger out of i think i might give it ago, looks good, and if it bends you can always give it a bash with a hammer back into place,

getting back onto the subject of that mech saver i think they are a good purchase i have heard from other riders, go for it

i use a mech saver on my pro 2... just angle ground it down so it worked... beast now, landed on it full weight and not snapped a hanger.

how did you make it fit james? i have an onza saver and my pro 2 fun bolts wont allow me to fit it in-just grind away the side?

I always thought that the replaceable hangers where designed to bend/break when hit, instead of the mech.

If not, then what do you think of this? A bodged hanger, purposely a little weak, would break before the mech, and would be cheaper to replace. I think!
