bbt
Hi, ive snapped two mech hangers over the last two weeks and was wondering whether you can get a mech saver to fit the hope pro 2 trials with bolts? help pleaselukey d
Concussion
Mech saver Is this something new or are you talking about them things you find on cheap XC bikes? If so, can't think why it wouldn't fit on a Pro 2 axle/bolt. I took mine off as it only protects the mech from sideways damage!Prob not what your on about ....but hey ....you try
joshywa
i think he's talking about one of these:not sure if they help much (for trials at least) but then again i have no experience of using one joshywa

Ali C
I made myself a steel mech hanger, it was really easy, I just used a hacksaw, drill and a file.I have had it on my bike ever since I got it and its never bent, and I have landed pretty heavily on the mech a few times.give it a go. T.McMillan
Ali C - what kind of thickness steel did you make that mech hanger out of i think i might give it ago, looks good, and if it bends you can always give it a bash with a hammer back into place, getting back onto the subject of that mech saver i think they are a good purchase i have heard from other riders, go for itTom Edited June 6, 2006 by speedyjustice
Ali C
its about 4mm, its really strong heat treated stuff though, I cant see it bending even if I put it in a vice!!!

They help loads and are worth it, I was always landing on it as i sidehop to the driveside.

Alun Goch
I always thought that the replaceable hangers where designed to bend/break when hit, instead of the mech.If not, then what do you think of this? A bodged hanger, purposely a little weak, would break before the mech, and would be cheaper to replace. I think!Alun
Ali C
I would rather break my £14 mech than my £15 hanger

Cultiv8ed_m@
Mikes bin making these custom hangers, which are so strong! - Beasty Hangeru can go for moves n know that if u hit/land on the mech its not gonna snap off like echo type hangers. Really solid, dense aluminium so there way stronger than the normal ones Matt
