Ben Geary
I've never tried one but they do look really thin and weak.
JT!
In all fairness they should be as strong as the chain. When you push a pin out, and then push it back in, that link looses strength. By using the split link it should be stronger.I know there's someone on here (possible FatMike) who uses the split link and he has never broken a chain anywhere near the it. Will Arnold
i always use the split-link because joining the chain with a chain tool can never be as strong as when its done in the factory, especially as the kmc split links are mushroomed on the ends. think about pushing a muchroomed pin through a hole that isnt big enough for it, it will make it bigger when its not designed to be widened.when i used the split link, i snapped the chain on a normal link before the split link goes.also, if your scared of it unclipping, a spot of glue will sort that Will
Onza Kieron
What I do and I feel it will be a great help one day is join my chain properly and keep the split link on me, then when chain dies clip it on so I can get home as I don't like carrying tools anymore. Simpson
ive run 4 - 5 split links on 1 chain before for over a month probably run as true as it could riding everyday - if i had a chain tool lying about then id use that but i wouldnt have to think 2ce bout quickly wacking one on to last me a few weeks or summink
