Most English people have mixer taps in the kitchen but only new more modern bathrooms seam to have them. You foreigners are missing on on having to quickly alternative between hot and cold taps so you don't freeze/burn your hands ;)

Left in Kitchen but right in my old house. Its soooo f**king annoying because when I get a drink i always leave it for a bit so its cold enough but it turns out I've actually turne on the hot one and it burns my mouth. I hate moving houses.

I've had the joy of experiencing them on my trips... They're horrible!

In any room with a toilet they should be plumbed in on the left. Most people are right handed and wipe with thier right hand, so you use your left hand to turn the hot tap on and wash your right hand first to stop spreading germs so freely.

Its the same in the kitchen, you hold your plate to rinse it with your right hand and use your left hand to turn the tap on.

:)
