Tony Harrison
A mate of mine has a decent 26" Levelboss build, but he wants to try riding mod to see if he'd prefer that. He'd like to build something with as few extra parts as possible. What I'd like to know is, in general...Can he use his 170mm Middleburns and Pro Trials Guard? Will his Echo Urban forks suit a mod (he has a disk brake) or not?I think he should get something like a T-pro frame and fork - would his cranks work, or would he be best off with front freewheel? Hobnobs
Cranks will work, but hell be forced to run a funky gear ratio.Forks will be weird, but possible. Cheapo forks will be much better.
Tony Harrison
Ok, he can buy new forks then. What sort of gear ratio? I suppose he can run a 20T on the front - what would be best on the back?
Walleee
Most run 18:12, so 20-14?The burn's will work, but I don't know if you can get a rear freewheel at 14t, unless it's a freehub, which would probobly be more costly than a second hand pair of screw on cranks and ACS. Also, their langth, might be a bit off putting, im only used to 158's on mod, not sure how anything longer would feel.
Hobnobs
Length isnt a problem, i run 175's and theyre great.I think 22-14 would be fairly close, but look for a ratio calculator, it needs to be about 1.5:
