I used to run a Akasa Ultra Quiet 460W Paxpower and it was okay and reliable, although its not modular.

Now i'm running an Enermax Liberty 620W and thats been good aside from the fact that it broke after a couple of months. The Enermax warranty is pretty good though, 3 years i think it is. Its not silent, but quieter than the Akasa i had.

Generally anything that OCUK sell is pretty good

Another vote for a liberty, I've had my 400W version for a few months now, seems excellent and is managing to supply my pretty power hungry system without any problems. I can't hear mine over the rest of my pretty quiet system. Other ones to look for would be the tagan easycon series, heard lots of good thing about them.

Genrally any supplies with a 120mm fan from a decent manufacturer (Antec, Tagan, Enermax, FSP, Hiper, Seasonic) will be pretty quiet.

If you really want THE quietist best PSU around at the moment it has to be the seasonic S12 series, unfortunately its not modular, but they are simply the best PSU's around performance/noise wise.

Anyone seen any 3rd party SHuttle PSUs since we're here, I think mines failing, and was looking around. Shuttle PSUs arn't the greatest, so if anybody knows of a good'n, it'd be appreciated.

purely cos im bored,

the 580W hiper I got recently seems to be pretty good. can't really comment on the noise cos I've got a load of other fans chugging away that drown everything out. super bright giant blue LED's and lovely, lovely detachable power cabley bits though

how the hell do you manage with only 460W ?

460W? What you talking about, my PSU is 250W, hahaha.

So is mine, and it powers my system (A64 3200+, 9800XT, TV card etc) just fine. Basically because Shuttle make decent PSUs that punch above their weight a bit.

chances are unless your running a dual core sli setup with quite a few drives you won't be anywhere near the power limit of your psu.

As i said i've got a 400W enermax running my overclocked AMD X2, 7800GT, 2GB ram, 3hd's and a dvd burner, along with quite a few fans etc.
