Thought the fiat rover thing was good until that airbag went off in the bumper, then blowing it up at the end was just retarded and ruined quite a funny streak I thought. Racing the range rover against that Brutus was incredible thou, for a Chelsea tractor that range rover is very impressive!

Slightly disappointing how Range Rover is distancing itself further and further away from the countryside and becoming more of a fashion accessory though it obviously proved they still have the guts to do the job.

Was the airbag thing and the blowing up that ruined it for me, must admit I really want Richard Briers guided sat nav now!

Buy a Defender then! Amazed it managed to do it on the standard road tyres though.

I kind of agree with the fashion accessory thing but since it actually proves to have proper off-road capability, it's all the more remarkable. On the contrary to the X6 for instance which is apparently completely useless.

Just watched the latest episode. Well made and quite amusing as usual.

The Range-Rover bit was well shot and pretty spectacular, and I it is the chelsea tractor I have the least of an issue with (I'd have a disco over it anyday though, and a big estate car over any of them unless I actually HAD to go off-road or tow several tons) But what did it actually do off-road that's impressive? from what I could see it drove over some roughish ground, mostly quite slowly, rolled down a steep hill, drove up a smooth slope at speed with a run-up and drove through some water. Sorry, but that's not impressive in my eyes, and doesn't really prove it's any better off-road than anything else waterproof with some ground clearance, there wasn't actually anything that tested it's traction.

The multipla thing was quite funny, but as said, went a bit over the top. I agree with the general idea, but not just for old people. I'm 23, like having a smart-phone, spend a lot of time on a lap-top, etc.. general young person with no issue with technology, but I wouldn't want all the shit modern cars come with. I want a radio/CD player I can plug my phone into, opening windows, central locking and a heater/air-con. A sat-nav's a bonus, but I'm not that bothered because my phone does that anyway. Any other gadgetry isn't needed, adds weight, will need fixing expensively sooner or later and is quite distracting when you're trying to do the basics. It's literally just there so they can have more boxes ticked in the brochure, and is completely surplus in a vehicle. I know not everyone shares that view, but I bet a fair few do.

But the trouble with using it as that kind of car is that there's about 3 square inches of glass on the thing, meaning you'll constantly get it stuck because you can't see what the hell you're maneuvering around. Hell, I'm scared they wont see my low slung car when I see one on the road, let alone notice a tree-stump or rock. I actually don't mind the styling of any of the Land-Rover range, but dear god the evoque seems to have been designed by an idiot who forgot it actually have to be driven.

I too thought it was brilliant. James' car is actually something I want. A mobile bed/workshop? The only way it could be improved would be if he'd put storage in it for climbing gear. If I built that into a 4WD estate, it would return better fuel consumption than a van but still get me to all the mountains...

I think they might have done that so as to make everyone assume that's what would happen then come the next morning all was fine. The Africa episode was a lot better than previous efforts as they were clearly having fun but there was no real stages antics.

Everyone has got used to the nonsense and it's expected for something to blow up so I think it's a purposeful attempt to do the big race-type events differently.

I hope that's the case and I'm not over thinking it. No doubt come Sunday every-b*****d-thing will blow up and I will have expected too much from it!

So what did you guys think? Thought that as a special this was not very good. Apart from the river crossing and them stealing bits from each others cars, nothing was going on most of the time. Vietnam special still the best of them all imo.

Best so far this series, but still not on par with the Vietnam one. I like the 2 part thing though, and I preferred the lack of daft challenges along the way. The whole premise of "Go here, achieve this" suited them better IMO.

As if he ruined an 850r. They are epic cars, proper fast and handle brilliant. I'd have one if I could find one cheap enough that doesn't need loads of work doing

Fast and well handling yes, but hardly a go-anywhere car. They are a bit too low for the Serengeti!
