Bit about Senna was rather awesome.

Yeah man

my mate posted on twitter:

"Ok we get it, Senna was good, but I'm watching Top Gear not Senna's Memorial Show"

He was just a bit better than good, and the point to it all was also that Hamilton got to drive Senna's car, Ignorant fanny >.<

That was easily one of the best episodes of Top Gear ever.

I do like the ones where they're pratting about, but episodes like tonights really sets out what cars are all about. I mean a car that (a very rich) Joe Public can buy doing 267mph!!

and that Ayrton Senna tribute was amazing. He's always been my No1 driver of all time and it was actually quite emotional to watch.

Have yet to see tonight's episode but..

In one of the previous episodes this was mentioned:

Does anoyone else think this is an absolutely superb car? I mean as far as I know there has never been a compact car which offers luxury at the same time. You either get a horrid ecobox which is made of plastic or a massive S-Class. There are some interior shots of this car floating around the net and it really looks like a nice place to be. Personally I love the idea, it's just the car I'd choose if not for the limited practicality from my point of view (no room for a bike, won't tow a trailer etc.). So many people want to travel around in comfort and don't make use of the rear seats at all. Why lug the huge weight of a luxury car around if you can have something smaller?

So they had an epic tribute to a sporting legend, bringing in another current legend in for good measure.

The world's best off road car in an epic race.

The world's fastest car setting a new WR.

Two of Hollywood's cheesiest sorry, greatest stars, each setting and smashing a new lap record...

C'mon..

The episodes haven't been great at all this series, then they just plonk all this stuff in one mega hour to make up for it and keep us all in love with the show.

It worked.

epic race.

The races like this bug me now. They quite clearly just take the individual clips to create an editted skit with no actual race happening. However, I was rather impressed with Hamsters driving (if it was actually him in the 'outside' shots)- that was a proper tight course through the trees and he wasn't hanging about.

I don't get why people can't believe it is actually a race. True they make it look like it's closer that it actually is sometimes, but that's about it.

I can't be bothered going into it in detail but the one last night was a perfect example. For one while 'racing' they were clearly tailing a camera car an were just following it down the road. Then all the random jumps and stunts which I guarantee were nowhere near any kind of race 'route' and were probably all filmed individually about 10 times from every angle ready for editing. It's obviously done purely for show and I doubt there is actually any real element of race in it at all- purely for entertainment. The races with James, Jezza and Hamster alone I can believe being reasonably 'real' with lots of shots taken on the way back or afterwards (and even the likes of the climber one) but all the 'BMXers vs. Fiat 500' type ones (off the top of my head freerunners in Liverpool and the one last night) are just bullshit.

What's wrong with Fizzy Cola Bottles Greetings?!

Yeah completely with you, anybody with half an idea of how things are filmed and edited for TV can see that the races are completely faked. Very boring and predictable to watch I thought.

The rest of the episode was pretty good though, especially for the Senna film :)

Oh yeah I was referring to the public transport vs car races. I agree with you with the races like what was on last night.

I think the main obvious bit of it was the fact there were fresh snowmobile tracks in front of their snowmobiles each time - from the previous takes.

Great episode though, great fun.

Amuses me how people still say, "that was obviously faked". It's scripted! The only things that I don't reckon are faked are the celebrity and power lap board times.

Faked/scripted you know what I mean. When they first started the new format all those years ago the races didn't appear as scripted to me and actually seemed fairly genuine?
