Yes he did! In order to reduce the drag.

Yea, thats what I was going to say, I was literally halfway through typing a reply explaining it all. Then got bored and stopped.

The only other possible advantage created by the tape could have been a smoother air flow, rather than say a plain blocked grill.

Damn I missed it. When's the repeat?

(Apart from 3 years time on Dave :P)

Never heard of the wonders of BBC Iplayer?

I'd be worried (yet not suprised) if they got better/smoother airflow through tape jsut stuck on the front rather than the grill which surely will have gone through an air tunnel.

Yes he did! In order to reduce the drag.

After a quick debate on msn, Muel claims that he meant the same as me, he just didn't say it...

It sounded like he was saying Hammond did it to stop the air cooling the engine? Atleast I read it that way.. anyway, that salt place looks fun. :)

Hmm, but surley, the air will go through the grill, and slam into tha back of the engine bay/radiator/engine/everything else unsmooth in there, and cause a certain amount of drag, wheras (theoretically) it should hit the tape and flow around. I guess, the tape was a pretty blunt surface, so might have had a pretty adverce effect.

I have no idea really, just a basic kinda thought. Its pretty impossible to tell from just looking really..

Yes the air going to the engine would mean increased drag so in a way he did do it to stop the air going to the engine but he just wanted to reduce drag, if the hole was for cooling an inflatable moose I think he still might have done it. You both meant the same thing just interpreted it differently.

good episode though, the car alarms bit was good. Also iplayer wont have it on til about thursday because I believe there is a repeat on wednesday, then they put it on after that.

imagine the corrosions under the arches after driving on that! looked pretty fun though..

i don't think it's been that great so far, this series i mean, the preview look damn sight better! im hoping it picks up in the following episodes.

steve

The corrosion? On all those aluminium/plastic underbellies? Really?

There's really not much to corrode on any of those cars on the underside.

After a shit google search I think I have discovered its auto only, which is pretty crap. I dont plan on buying an auto until I loose an arm/leg or become too old and boring to drive a manual. Kinda ruins the car for me.

Specially considering the lack of water to speed up the corrosion on those non steel cars ;)

Was a good episode, love the look of the new charger! Good to see they kept a very similar shape/styling to the old one

Depends on your driving environment, surely? I know people who live in Central London who have automatics just because of the regular 'stop start stop start' traffic - its just a lot easier, same with motorways too.

Personally, I'd rather have an automatic than a manual at the minute.
