Greetings
Good episode but I'm still annoyed at Top Gear after last weeks' show.

JT!
Lol'ed at the Indian Special joke. And the last challenge. I do prefer the epic races though.
monkeyseemonkeydo
What's with the flickery indicators over the past couple of weeks? Is it like a safety feature like hazards automatically coming on when you slam on the brakes?

Muel
That goes against Ford RS heritage so badly it's not even funny. That can't be true surely? The whole point of a fast ford is to have a family car you can take on a track? But if you do, everyone will know you're slow and rubbish because your hazards won't be flashing? LukasMcNeal
I thought it was the LED lights flickering and maybe due to the camera settings as they filmed in the snow
Miss-Higgy
I thought it was the LED lights flickering and maybe due to the camera settings as they filmed in the snow It's so the camera men could see where he was.
Topsy
I'd still say that is was down to some camera settings. You also can see where a car is when the lights are on normally. lol
Muel
I's a common modern safety feature. Hard braking makes the hazard come on to alert drivers behind you to a hazard.

I thought we were talking about the head and taillights?
Muel
Nope, started with this. What's with the flickery indicators over the past couple of weeks? dann2707
Yeah it was the headlight and tail lights flickering i think
Greetings
Under hard braking? The Panda had it's hazards come on. I think it's a good idea actually. Some older cars had "quad" brake lights with 2 or all 4 on depending on how hard the braking was. Would look a bit silly on the track though. monkeyseemonkeydo
Yeah it was the headlight and tail lights flickering i think I was only assuming it was the indicators but it was more like the side lights or auxiliary lights and it's randomly flickering (as in left to right out of sync rather than hazards flashing periodically and together). Danny
I found this on a forum which im inclined to believe: Yes, this happens with LED lights. The older bulb lights are just being switched on or off and thus don't flash. LED lights however are pulsed for a different brightness, so when filmed with a camera which captures discrete frames, these lights can flash because the camera catches them sometimes on and sometimes off, as daan explained. Example: you have one set of lights for driving and braking. When you do not brake, the LEDs are pulsed. This happens so quickly that the human eye can not distinguish the on-off-periods, so you just see a reduced brightness. When you brake and the lights come on, the LEDs are simply being tuned on all the time, so the light appears brighter to the eye. I guess its probably PWM the same as how you can control a motors speed.
MonsieurMonkey
Similar to when you see the advertising boards at a football match, they flash in slow mo but look solid normally. Dunno if they're LED's or not though.
Greetings
Thought that was a really good episode. Just the right amount of humour and facts. Don't much care for the races they usually have but this one was good. Watched a TED video with Yves Rossy on Saturday, link for those interested.
