The Drink.. Ouzo...

Recommended Posts

Drink it with ice! And if your soft, a bit of water too!

I know all about ouzo cos I used to live in greece.

It's lovely in the morning - either straight out of the bottle or mixed with some fresh orange juice if you feel you need the vitamins.

It works quite well with a bit of lilt and some ice at around lunchtime.

In the afternoons/evenings you really need to drink it neat over ice or you're not getting the true experience.

When you're getting close to bedtime you should be going back to drinking straight out of the bottle.

the bestest thing about ouzo is that it doesn't get you drunk (Y)

From my experiences it gets you very drunk, twice in fact. Try and sober up later with some water and the stuff will hit you again because its kinda crystal like, drink water and it means you reabsorb the stuff thats still sitting in your stomach. thats a pretty crappy explanation but by god is that stuff lethal!

ok.....

Fancy sending me some? :P

What did you hallucinate?

Ha ha, Wikipedia has some interesting facts about Absinthe Clickity

Something like this is what was seen, i cant explain it really, such a vivid amount of colours just merging together, totally lost control of speech and movement and everything. I was expecting to be pissed to the point where i would be sick like vodka does but this stuff is just evil. I wasnt sick not even once but just lost control of everything and the hallucinations where really..... funny! :S

Is it similar to sambucca and amaretto? They're really nice, they always make me go exploring after a night out too. :S:P

I think Ouzo is exactly the same as Sambucca. If not then it's very similar. It's one of those things that splits people - you either love it or you hate it. I love it though.

But Amaretto is totally different - it's almond-flavoured I think.

P.S. Ouzo and Sambucca are colourless, they're not green...

Personally I think UZO (cant be arsed to try to spell it) is loverly.

Drink it with water, or soft drink or neat, it's all good.

And as far aas absynth goes, I found some BLACK ABSYNTH when I went to turkey, and that stuff was lethal.

80% proof, and it tasted like aniseed/battery acid, gets you mullered though.

indeed :D

as for the getting drunk twice thing - that only happens if you stop drinking, which is clearly the wrong thing to do - if you never stop, you never get drunk.

man i like the sound of that plan, gonna have to start taking bottles of vodka to work lol
