Howard Hughes
I know this is a trials forum, but after reading this thread I thought some of you may be able to help me/offer some advice...I would like to buy either a road bike or an XC bike... not to sure which yet, but I only have a budget of about £500 (possibly a little more)... so does anyone have any recommendations? I want a reasonable spec.... but will probably upgrade things as time goes on.I was looking at the GT Avalanche 1.0 (v-brake version) for an XC bike, as the components look reasonable for the price... As for road bikes... I have no idea, i've had a little look around but i'm not to sure whats good/bad. Any help is appreciated.
Lawnmowerman
Have a look here. You can customise your own bike and they are a brilliant shop
TheMunn
If your looking for an off the peg bike my thoughts would be for an xc bike look at the scott scale 70, its £499 and is the lowest priced full built bike with an alloy racing frame, comes with pretty good kit on it aswell. If you want to swing for a proper road bike then I would suggest a specialized allez, again at £499 but a good bike, with this you get a carbon fork, shimano running gear and a few decent specialized components. future orange 660
best thing i would say to do is look on ebay for bikes that people have bought and decided its not for them or wrong size etc.sure to save a good few hudred quid so you can get a better spec for the money. as for models, for xc checkout the giant xtc's and for road look at the trek 100,1200 and 1500. It's a really nice riding bike, I even prefer the way it rides to my dad's bianchi which is a bit more expensive than it
