Mark W
Why has that guy fully assembled his bike, but not actually put tyres on? Even got it to the right chain tension, bless Just noticed the "More lighter holes". I always found my holes to be too heavy before
ScotchDave
That seriously takes the piss, holes in rims I can handle, but in tyres.
Greetings
Just bought a Monty tyre the other day... I'd far more prefer to have light holes as opposed to heavy ones
Sam Nugent
Damn! Only just got my 2.7 But I suppose it is great so it's not that bad.Good idea to do them in 2.6 because quite a few people were complaining about the 2.7s saying they were just a tiny bit too big. But personally now that I have the 2.7 myself, I hate riding with a 2.5 on
Monty_Man_Stoive
It doesn't actually say more lighter holes, its says its *more lighter* and then it says *side holes* *************************-More lighter-Side holes-New composite, more grip-New Monty patch-Rear: 19"x2.6-Front: 20"x2.0*************************He He! Matt_Tupman
a pic of the tread pattern would be nice. It's exactly the same as the 2.7s, the tyres have actually been out for ages but only for sponcered riders have had them up to now ( and lucky riders who managed to steal them )There softer than the 2.7s and genrally a very nice tyre although I think there a bit comp specific due to the softness. Walleee
It's exactly the same as the 2.7s, the tyres have actually been out for ages but only for sponcered riders have had them up to now ( and lucky riders who managed to steal them )There softer than the 2.7s and genrally a very nice tyre although I think there a bit comp specific due to the softness.Yeh, is the compound much softer or is it just the fact that due to having holes in them, each individual tread can flew more and as such is more grippy? If the latter is the case I can see the wear rate being much the same as the 2.7's but the only problem being that perhaps sharp edges might end up in the holes tearing apart depending on the density of the compound.....Regardless, they must look pretty cool, but I can imagine a wet comp with them on and each hole filled with wet, sticky mud, not much lighter anymore eh?Edit: That tread is not the same as on the 2.7 I have, each tread is the same size around the whole tyre on either side, those have a pattern of big, small, big, small, etc.... More like creepy crawlers...... Edited May 27, 2006 by jake1516

JT!
I wish monty would just bring out a pair of good tyres, and stop there. I've lost track of all the different tyres they have/had, the ones with a yellow line, 2.7" ones and now these. And they're names 'egal claw', sounds alot like a bahplate just to make it even more confusing.Mind you though, they do look promising, if you ever look at your tyre when you ride, the only time you use those nobbles on the far sides of your tyre is when your on something pointy, or doing drops and such, hence why they don't really wear down much. 'Drilling' wholes in them is going to make them a hell of alot more squashy, and therefor more grippy, and of corse, alot lighter. Lets hope they're afordable.
