The aim of this course is to provide an introduction to the sport of kayak canoeing. The course follows the syllabus of the British Canoe Union. You will be introduced to practical and theoretical aspects such as: basic strokes; equipment and safety afloat. Please note that these courses are open to both adults and juniors.

Ah yes we do.

are you taking Kayaking (closed boat) Or canoing (open boat)???

For Kayaking 1* from my memory (I did it about 8 years ago)

Paddle Forward

Paddle Backward

Stop

Draw Stroke - Both Sides

Sweep Stroke - Both Sides - Forwards and Backwards

Capsize Manover

Also River Safety and Code

Organising a Kayak Trip

And other travel and river saftety items that I cant remember.

There could also be more on the practical side of things

I did it when I was with scouts ages ago. From what I remember it was a piece of piss although the guy did say I was a "natural" pow pow

It's an awesome sport and I really should have made more effort to pursue it, ah well guess it saves me from another expensive sport :-

Brendan you did just the same, yet your boat didnt colapse and crush your legs........

Kayaks are coming down in price, but expect to spemd a few hundred on a boat.

I dont know what a pocket rocket looks like, but im trying to find a good all rounder boat, as the small stunt boats are usless for paddling any further than 6ft.

I did my 1 star in Windermere. The only hard thing about it was how b*****d cold it was (easter time, about 1C!) :)

Took my breath away I tell thee :ermm:

I went kayaking at tower wood on lake windermere in about october, f**k me the water was cold haha

well sometimes i have my own boat and that and i got 3 * bcu

1 star is piss just be confident if you get a spraydeck STAY IN YOUR BOAT when you capsize someone will rescue you ..........eventually

basically if you can sit in the boat you'll get 1*
