ive been to two of the mad demos recently and there were so bad, there was no promotion anywere they didnt have jeserys they only had 2stickers on there bikes, and the demo rig didnt have anything to do with mad either, BIT let down.

to be honest the crowd hurt it was that bad.

1 demo i went to was fairly good, promoting wearing your helmet.

All wearing matching jerseys and saracen bikes which are some of the cheapest, half decent trials bikes you can get.

They do an awful lot for the sports (Y)

Haha, I did that demo. BHIT demo in reading near a leisure centre. It was Simon Harvey and Si Sagar who were the other riders.

With regards to Dave, where abouts were these demos and do you know who the riders were? MAD are in a bit of a pickle at the minute since saracen have gone into receivership leaving us without frames and a "large" sum of money short right at the beginning of the demo season.

As you may have guessed, saracen was our major sponsor and because of this most (if not all) of our promotion material is mainly saracen based - for example, banners, flags, leaflets, posters, stickers, the rig and our team jerseys are plastered in saracen logos. After being left massivly out of pocket I'm sure you can understand why we wouldn't want to then advertise them for free.

Although MAD may not appeal to many on the forum as much as koxx riders etc. I feel we do more than our fair share in bringing trials to the public eye. MAD have been on tv programmes such as blue peter 3 times, I personally have been on a live welsh programme called UNED 5 (with a v. fit presenter :D ), I mean, at least 5 people in wales must have seen that!! lol.

Without MAD, there would have been no NASS trials arena and possibly no / little trials display at the bikeshow (certainly true for 05).

Quite true about NASS, but the Bike Show - and it's trials shows - have been around longer than MAD. I remember going to Bike 96 where I think Rich and Giles were then when Rich was sponsored by Muddy Fox. That was 10 years ago, so I may be wrong...

Although Saracen sponsored the trials arena in 05, I think it would have gone ahead regardless as you need things like that to draw the visitors to the show.

Mixing Trials with mainstream cycling activity is one way of getting our sport noticed.

Watch the news section; I’ll be releasing details soon of an event taking place on the 14, 15 and 16th of July.

There will 1000 off road competitors in attendance, with coverage from the BBC and press. A Trials competition will take place thanks to the support of a major retailer. In addition to a Trials comp our hosts want some flood lit action on Saturday evening, so a step up competition, or similar, will take place.

i havn't had a chance to read all the other posts so sorry if this has been said.

one good point of having the teams with team shirts in a comp is a team competition aswell. so you'd have individual riders category with each size of wheel etc then you'd have a team category so if the riders do well which ever category they're in could do well for their team? its kind of like the manufacturers category in rally driving. that adds an extra dimension for spectators then because if they were able to monitor how each team was doing then for example they might be watching a certain rider that has it all to do for his team and only has 2 sections to do it in... hope people understand what i mean by this...

i think your wrong onzaboymark about the way putting team shirts will turn trials riders in footballers. most footballers are wankers and at the end of the day everyones still friends in trials. just because one rider wears a different coloured shirt to next means they won't ride with each other is a load of bollox.

also having it in a city centre would means its more accesible to everyone, riders and spectators. you'd need a comentator too... someone mad like kenny would get the crowd going!!! haha

Could trials be getting more exposure again, guess we will see.
