Turning On My Back Wheel...

Hey, i have been watching some videos, and i would like to know the above. How do i turn, whilst on my backwheel. I have tryed and tryed. But i find them very strange. Is there a secret to them? Please dont just say practise as i have, and i cant do them. I need expert help :P (bit off arse licking there, might inspire more people to help :P)

Wiggle the handlebars.

Sounds gay, will look gay to learn, but its all in the wiggle. You don't even need to hop, you just wiggle. Hopping can help, but isn't required.

Thats it indeed!

A hop will help the rotation obviously as being on the ground will slow it somewhat.

just as said above really, i had problems with it a while ago and got the same replys, what i find is when you do your first gap jump "wiggle" as said above the handle bars, force them round.

the way to look at it if it makes sense if you are trying to move sumthing from under a heave couch :P

lift the couch and with a split seconds move it whatever way u want, if you need to do it more than once then do it.

just like if ur on back wheel hop it and force it to wiggle/turn.

if it doesnt make sense send me a slap in the mail (Y)

I'm having similar issues - I mean I can do it, but really badly. I can do the 2-wheels-90-degree-hop-to-backwheel easy no problem, but turning while on the backwheel just seems really weird to do. It's like, it feels like there's nowt to push against, know what I mean? Just air...when you're turning from two wheels you kinda have the ground to push off against. Not so on t' backwheel. Maybe I'm just not wiggling the bars enough - I think I'm trying to use my body to do most of the turning (a la spinning from two wheels).

Seems weird considering that generally speaking I'm pretty good at most spinny moves, just suck at this one.

This is a real sod to explain so im not going to attempt it. but wiggle the bars sound good to me, ive kinda learned to do it but i didnt ask for how to do i just watched the technique on a video and went out and practised, you wont get it straight away, it took me a week but you just need to get out and practise.

If it feels like there's not enough resistance or that you're just pushing air, it basically means you're going about doing it wrong, basically. It's a pretty 'light' sorta move, in terms of how you hold the bike. It sounds like you're trying to basically beast the bike around which you don't really need to do until you start doing turning backhops when you do 180° per hop. Anyway, you need to basically try and keep the bike fairly upright (think of how an ice skater goes tall and thin when they spin, instead of wide and low which is slower to spin). As you start to hop up, drop the bars to the direction of the spin, and then as you hop up flick them in the opposite direction to the spin. That's the sort of wiggling motion you go for. You can try and turn the bike with your hips and legs to some extent too, but a lot of the movement comes from the bars. Just keep the brake locked, wiggle the bars, and just try and keep 'light' on the bike so it can do it's own thing.
