Greetings
Disks need to bed in and it's normal for them to work like shit at first. Either have a search and find out the various methods of bedding in a brake fairly quickly, or just pour some water over the disk and ride around whilst braking. Do it for a minute, then pour some more water over the disk and do the same. Repeat 4-5 times. That will improve it's performance, yet you will still need to get a few hours of riding in before you get it working full power. dave85
Doesnt matter wether its second hand or fifth, everytime you disturb the caliper or the rotor it needs a bit of use to get it back to normal performance. Get up a bit of speed and do the hardest stop you can. Repeat untill its working nicely. Try not to drag the brake too hard or you will glaze the pads.
