Alun Goch
I was thinking back to when I cycled for the Welsh Talent Team (before being chucked off for smoking ) and when I had a road bike. The fastest I went on it was 49 mph, just wandering how fast everyone else has been?Obviously this was down a hill! And I picked up my speed slowly quite a distance before it, nearly hitting a motorbike coming at me! (it was on a 'back lane', narrow minor road, whatever you call them)Before this though, I had 47.2 mph as my max speed on my computer! It was really weird, I thought the computer couldn't register any higher or something. Two different hills, on different days, and yes, I had reset the top speed! So, how fast have you been?Alun
Simpson
135mph on 2 wheels down the new chelmsford road but i dont know i ride trials so probably not much over 10mph on the flat know i did about 40down a hill as i could keep up with my friend on his ped but the bike gets super twitchy an really dont like it

Matt_Tupman
39mph on the flat and 54 down a massive hill that goes for about 4 mile I love road riding
2sixstreet
High 80's (in km/h) down some hilly roads and 90km/h (56mph) on a flat road slipstreaming a truck. Ran out of gears and he slowly pulled away.
Krisboats
On my trials bike i can manage about 15-18 before i'm going so fast my hub won't engage with the stupid gear ratio i'm in. On my jump bike i can easily keep up with cars doing 30 on a flat road and it goes pretty damn fast down this big hillnot far from me, the road next to it is national speed and i don't keep up with them but its not far off so i would hazard a guess at 40-50 ish. the judge
About 48mph I think, although I prefer the kinda skillful technical bendy descents rather than the straight 'hope the g-force doesn't push your eyes to the back of your skull' kind.Road bikes rule!! JT!
90km/h (56mph) on a flat road slipstreaming a truck. Ran out of gears and he slowly pulled away. That seems a bit hard to belive. It's hard vertually impossible to get to those speeds down a steep hill never mind on the flat.
mat hudson
i got "tractor speed" on my jump bike with brand new high rollers

flipkickbs
Hahahahahahahaha I actually pissed myself at that. Was it the size of a small child??? Nah, i've sort of got a phobia of moths, so i was just going along and it flew full pelt into my arm and got stuck and started flapping around on my elbow, i sh*t myself so bad that i yanked my back brake full on and locked my front wheel sideways, came off. So i was pushed off by a moth. Ian Edited May 18, 2006 by flipkickbs

For some reason I doubt this. I can manage 25 on the flat on my downhill rig with the seat right up the crack of my arse. Suspension on super stiff aswell. Fastest I've been is around 40 down a winding road down the side of a mountain. Good old wales.

Waynio
hehehehesome of these speeds seem quite "unlikely" like speedo set up for the wrong wheelsize hehei did 41mph on tuesday night, the problem iv got is, the roads and the blinking hills round here always jump into a blind bend, but im SURE i could get around 45ish down Park Road in Bingley, and i could poss get that down a hill called "Alter Lane" its one of the most dangerous OFF road MTB tracks round by us. Lovatt and i was trying to gooooooooooooo really fast down alter lane and did last week, this week it was wet and limited what we could go for, in the dry last week, i near killed meself into a tree!!!! sharp right hand corner on knobbly Continental tyres, on a Whyte 46. really skitty when its wet cos the front ends so stiff!!!! but in the dry its nice gives you a bit more stiffness MORE SPEED!!!! haha. How many people do actually do a bit of XC? to keep fit for trials? or is it just something you do the odd occaision????Waynio.............................
