Just a thought, wouldnt the fact that it is 'narrow' mean it is bound to be weak or does the width of the chain not make a difference to the strength? Does the kmc kool narrow handle everything you throw at it well? Thanks for the advice on not getting the rohloff, cant be doing with snapping another chain and getting another operation and being out of riding for 2 or so months. Ali C
the side plates are just as thick on the kmc kool narrow, so they are just as strong in that sence. The pins might flex less too, which means it might be harder fo it to pull apart?? Who knows, but they are plenty strong enough for trials

Mark W
I like KMC Kools, but having sheared several sideplates and having generally f**ked shit up with some other ones, I'm a little wary. I know they do Vincent Hermance, Benito, etc. all fine, but still...
Mr_Pitbull
Your pretty much risking your life after having a chain for over a month, i saw a thread in chit chat about "How long have you had your chain for thread" i was disgusted to see some people having there chain for well over a year! seriously i've been in drop gaps after 3 weeks of having a new chain (KMC) and it just snapping on me, change your chain once every Month.Don't oil/lube your chain up either as oil/lube attracts grit which wears the metal inbetween the link pins causing them to wear and unscrew themselves and in turn snapping the chain.Enjoy. Mark W
If your chains die due to something to do with the pins, wouldn't that suggest that it was more down to the joining? In that other people run them (and lube them ) without them f**king up, yet you have loads of trouble?

Dont use a dry lube, it is good for roadies as it vreates a wax and leaves it behind. A good old wet lube, or go for tf2, nice and thin to get into the pins so avoid wear. Sharp
im using an old batterd 1 year old Shimano pc38always do, how do people keep snapping chains??Mate i would get a new chain if i was you, mine was a fairly old chain but i had never had any problems with it, then one day when i was out ridin one of the links just pulled clean apart putting me in hospital. I think mine snapped because it was an old chain and had quite a lot of pressure going through it at that time.... Check out the picture of my chain snappin on my mypsace pictures... http://www.myspace.com/ben_coolioCheers x
