Yo dude...you can buy an ipod shuffle for 50 squid my friend. They hold 230 odd songs i think so they arn't that bad (Y) Look on the official site for further details.

i'm at school and they have lots of gay security bollocks that block sites and right click and what not. You can't even use the 'run' command.

tip : never buy anything from apple - they are a bunch of bounders and cheats. over rated and overpriced.....

shuffles are terrible.

At the moment Ive got a samsung 2GB flash jobbie - which was about 80 quid - its pretty mega. ditch the headphones for some sennheisers and you are sorted.

Im sure there is more out there now though so just take a good look round. stay away from companies like apple and sony.... as they use dire software and have music protection bollox which is sheite.

although that being said - if you want battery life and pretty good sound get a sony flash player (although the down points are really appauling software and super slow transfer...)- 80 quid gets you 1gb and about a week of continuous play - or at least did a while ago...

Seems to get good reviews, I'd go for it.

Manuels right about battery life though, if you want decent.. go for sony, mines 20gb and lasts for 40 hours.

yeh but thats the 1gb one :(

does anyone know a decent 2gb+ one from a shop instead of online?

I've got the 1gb sony bean and I have never had any problems with the software... it puts the music onto the bean in about a minute, and thats a gigs worth, plus it can hold more music with the super compressed atrac3 plus format, yet still sounds great with standard headphones. its been very user friendly and easily understandable.

Ive got about 50 hours of music on mine, which is coincidentaly how long the battery lasts too, and its also as light as a mouses fart, and cheapish too, so its a good buy i'd say.

I'l second that, had mine for quite a few months and it still going fine. One other cool feature is how quickly it charges up on the lower levels, 3 mins charging (plugged into a USB)= 3 hours of battery life, very handy if your on the move.

Get one of these. Ive got one myself, they are great.

Because they are so small you can carry it around without even noticing.

The lrgest size they come in is 1gb but thats good for around 600 songs as it uses ATRAC3 compression. (Y)

Sony NW-E99

you can find them on ebay a bit cheaper as well.

I'll actually vote for a shuffle.

I got bought one by my step brother for Xmas, and was a bit weary at 1st, but it's actually really good.

Battery life is great, I charge it up like once a week!

Holds at least 250ish songs, more if you compress them a bit.

Tough as hell, mine's dropped out my pocket, been run over, and smashed, but still works brilliantly.

Cheap.

Easy to use, especially when you're on your bike etc, as you're not distracted by the screen.

Very light weight.

I would vote for not using MP3 players at all.

They are bad for your hearing, a fad, dangerous... would defiantely not suggest you use them for riding etc.

Maybe I'm jsut a sad old man eh

Bad for your hearing- only if you turn them up too loud!

A fad- i think not, there just an evolution of a walkman, theyve been around since the 70s/80s

Dangerous- again only if turned up too loud.

hmmm not so sure, mine is ace but the just headphone socket broke, as many said it would lol + i can't find a phone number for creative, just an emal addy that sends you an automated reply. joy.

Contact the company that does public relations for them. Here's a link to emails for it.

If you go through them and kick up a fuss you'll be suprised at what you can get, it didn't take too much persuading to get them to replace my 4gb Zen Micro with an 8gb Zen MicroPhoto. Threaten to write to papers (and watchdog type program or whatever it is) as it has happened to so many people and simply ask for you're money back. Chances are they won't give you your money back but will upgrade you.

EDIT- A few more contact details with a phone number.:

I'm looking for a new mp3 at the moment as my mini is a pile of crap really. The battery only lasts about an hour (and that's with leaving it on hold and not touching it - if you play around with it and keep changing the playlist etc the battery only lasts 20-30 minutes sometimes) DO NOT BUY AN IPOD MINI.

What i'm looking for is something that is not to highly prices, holds about 1000+ songs and has a good long battery life.

Can't you get one of those kits to replace the battery? LikeTHIS.

Well yeah I suppose I could but I want to try something new really. I like the one tomturd has and I know a few people who have them but I don't really have that much to spend on an mp3 player to be honest - I need it to keep my bike going at the moment.
