morton
Yer i get that sometimes especially at the end of sections in competitions, I've found the more you ride the better your stamina gets and the less nakered you get, and you don't start to ache as much.Morton
Concussion
1 . does anybody have a similar problem?I think I do...kinda get a `cramp` type feeling in my L hand when riding a lot. Its a right pain, all I can think off is to flex your hand a bit, and hope it gets better/stronger.I was half thinking of swapping my brakes around to solve this, as my right hand has power...but I dunno? dcstephenson
When you say RSI, do you mean a pain that comes on whilst riding and stays with you for days afterwards, or a pain that just comes on when your arm and finger muscles are really tired whilst riding and goes away with rest??? Simpson
Pretty sure it aint RSI mate - you get that more from typing all day everyday on a keyboard at work really fast and joint inflame i belive. try to set up your lever so it moves less? Shaun H
That sounds like arm pump not RSI.RSI stays with you for a few days/weeks and tends to be just a painful feeling rather than something which prevents your muscles from operating properly (ie arm pump)I had RSI in my elbows for a while I presumed it was from the combination of a new longer frame (T-Rex), mega wide Pazzaz risers and a mega harsh tapping technique. I just hope it doesn't come back now I have my stupidly long Limey... Edited May 16, 2006 by Shaun H
nickyw
I get something like this sometime's.I get this small amount of pain and ache on both wrist's.I have to stop riding for like 20 sec's then the acheness goes away.
Si-man
That isn't RSI, thats just arm pump because you have used that muscle to much in a short period of time/ all day.Everybody gets that.RSI is completely different
Walleee
If you has RSI, you wouldn't be able to ride. I have it, the pain is comparable to a broken bone.

yoyoyo
The only place i get anything like that is in the back. Just have small rests like a couple of days between each ride. See if it helps.
tank_rider
I get what your describing, which is arm pump, caused by muscle fatigue.I also get RSI though due to the sweep on my bars, it shows as a sharpe pain in my wrists which occurs when they are under any load in certain positions. I think its a combination of riding and lots of keyboard typing. I will be getting some new bars to try to combat the problem, the doctor who diagnosed it also said to try wearing a support (which i need to get round to buying!!)For your problem, the more you ride, and longer lines you do, the situation will improve with time. I find i get the problem at comps after having ridden a few sections, due to me usually riding street and single obsticles or short lines, in comparison to two mins at a time as in comp sections. flipkickbs
i have problems with my back since im 6ft 5" and ride a mod Get a stock I got the same sort of thing as you while riding a comp, its just through excess use of those muscles and tendants in a short amount of time. Just rest for a day or so i reckon. Ian
Mark W
When you use the tendons in your arms intensively, they swell up a little and end up hitting the sheaths that hold them in place. When this happens, you're then unable to use the tendon correctly, which is what happens when you get armpump. Pro motocross racers sometimes have operations to remove the sheaths so they can ride without armpump, but it's not really worth it just to ride sections a little better at comps. I get it fairly bad, and I'm fairly sure Ali C (I know he had a load of trouble with it) and a few others have it bad too, so it's not just you.Are you using thick grips or thinner ones? And do you have your brakes set so the bite point is further out or further in?
T.McMillan
sorry it was mum that told me it was RSI, i think it sounds like the arm pump where you use the muscle alot in a short amount of time, it kinda does ache my arm as well as just my L hand index finger, when i rest for a min or so it goes away, but it does come back very quickly, it just restricts me from doing a long trials line or something, or something
