CBProductions
Don't get it from argos they overcharge by miles , if you just want a camera to stick on a tripod and that has great image quality go for the sony models as they dont have many prosumer features but have lots of image quality and are easy to use. It's also best if you get a bigger battery and a few dv tapes with it and a mic an windshield if money permits , for my bike videos im running a sony dcr - pc5e which is like 3/4 years old but does the job. Lee Cable
Ive got a better idea, spend your birthday cash on your bike, and tell your parents that they need a camara to record all there special moments, like chirstmas and shizzle and nick it! CBProductions
http://www.bizrate.co.uk/camcorders/pid400...-sony%20dv.htmlThat will do for a new person starting and offers good feature to money ratio and is a fairly ok camera.

Luke Drewery
I had the same debate in the Argos catalogue too, and I eventually chose the Canon MV790 because its fairly cheap, mini DV, has decent optical zoom, digital image stabiliser, digic dv processor, 16:9 true widescreen recording, night mode etc etc the list goes on. Cost me £200, and I got a Canon bag/tapes with it.I use it nearly every day, and its been nothing but excellent. I got hold of a wide angle lens too (borrowing) and that has helped my filming a lot.Oh and if you buy a mini DV chances are you will need a fiewire capture card/cable for your PC, I got mine for £8 posted off ebay, a wise purchase for quick and easy film capture.
