Mr Motivator
Yeah, just take the fun bolt all the way out on the mech side..edit: when you put the wheel back in, sit on the frame put push it in the drop outs and tighten it as for the crushed axle end, a big chunk of mine has snapped out off my hd axle, it's ok though, but not covered by warrenty. trialsalot
already tried screwing it out like that but the threads are fatter than the drop out is and it just pulls the frame apart.cheers anyway though.any other suggestions anyone? Mr Motivator
Ok well if you have to take out your wheel for any reason, like a puncture, just leave the wheel on and repair the tube with the wheel still on.Or get a different mech if your that concerned? trialsalot
lol,ive never had a puncture for ages but saying as a grind dont last forever and i dont have a van or a cycle rack the wheel is in and out more times than a fat chick in a chip shop! Mr Motivator
I grind with the tyre on Just hold it back with one hand, have to watch your wrists though
trialsalot
lol,um.....no.cheers for trying to help but a proper suggestion with a safe answer to the problem would be magnificent.as far as the mech idea goes i'd have the same problem removing the wheel.i aint sacrificing my rohloff for gears...no way!it works far to well. guineasmithpig
is it actually that the bolt is bigger than the dropout? or is it just really thick paint? i've had similar paint issues before! you could file the dropouts out a little, as long as u maintain good axle support
munkee
I grind with the tyre on Just hold it back with one hand, have to watch your wrists though Oh my god.. for your own safety and so that i can sleep at night. Please take you tyre off in future and do it properly.

trialsalot
its just that if i unscrew it so the all the thread is still in the axle i cant remove the wheel because how fat the bolt head is.the threaded part of the bolt is way fatter than the width of the drop out.its a total arse this one. FoxRacer
I don't see any problem... I just screw bolt in with tensioner on a bolt already and then just put wheel to the frame. This is the problem with which you are struggling? You can always set wheel in dropouts... just takes a bit more time... Filing isn't solution imo. Brian Bleech
so instead of mounting the tensioner on the dropout you mount it on the fun bolt itself? i think there is a bit of confusion and he thinks you have a fresh products style tensioner.but with a rohloff, yeah unfortunately i think you just have to keep undoing your tensioner. A hassle, but its only one bolts and when you have set it up once, it will only need bolting on again and it will be in the right position. looseing and tighting a bolt doesn't take that long, does it?
