Right, just made myself pasta, and it tastes waayy to hard, so how long should i keep it on for? should i wait till the water is boiling? someone help me, im sick of having either way to hard pasta or way to soft?

Wait for the water to be boiling then put the pasta in,

Should take about 15 mins? if your not sure then just get one out and try it :)

Also add a pinch of salt to the water , and in some cases olive oil even though it floats on the top :ermm:

Some chefs serve their pasta al dente where it's a little undercooked and harder . Rinse it with water when ready .

yea, they said that on readdy steady cook, stops it cooking more or something!

Keep checking it, get a spoon (preferably wood) and pick a peice out and try it.

That is by far the best way to know when its done. Eat it! Otherwise look on the packet. I'm a fan of 5 minute pasta. If you don't watch out you might pick up a pack that takes 20 minutes to cook.

i taste it. should be a tiny bit harder than what you want it to be.

pour all the water off, add butter/oil to lube, let sin in bowl or saucepan for a minute with the added lubrication. then enjoy.

i cant believe that people rinse the pasta in cold water after boiling, it's stuuuupid. pasta should be nice and steaming, and saaaalty!

The quick-cook stuff ain't as nice though, I don't think. But yeah, it's ready when you think it is. If you like it slightly hard then do it like that. If you like it when it's swollen up to twice the size it should be, leave it on for twice as long. Although I usually get impatient :P

it also depends if you have fresh or dried pasta. as the fresh stuff can cook really really fast, also taste better if a little aldente'. the dried stuff tends to me harder if undercooked, as the middle bits are really hard to start with, the fresh stuff is all soft in the first place ('soft' meaning not rock like)

Throw a piece against the wall, if it sticks its done, if it doesnt cook it more. Honestly. This works.

You could just cool a bit off under the tap and eat it though?

It never actually worked that out for myself until I saw someone else doing it.. thought to myself 'thats so obvious, cant believe I never thought of it' :$

I once sat though a video of someone eating a whole apple, all the seeds and core and everything.

I must say it was one of the most boring things i've ever seen, and the guy who did it though it was hardcore, hardcore to the max.

Anyway, this just seems like a repeat of that. Hence why i'm so passionate about it no being made.

I was going to make some kind of joke reference to the "hardcore" and "core" being part of an Apple, but I'm so tired I can't be arsed to think of something.
