f**k getting them put in they are nowhere near as good.

i know a few dread heads, a couple of them are really good mates who both let their come naturally. I'm not into the dirt factor myself, but if i was going to bother, i'd certainly do it properly by back combing and tying them in over years. I know someone who had them put in and they were too tidy!!!

The only people I have met with dreadlocks have been arrogant twats. There, i've said it. Actually, minus one guy.. infact 2..

EDIT: Most of the people I have met with dreadlocks have been arrogant twats. Thats better.

Im not saying that you are.. just make sure you don't turn into one when you get them done :P

No way! I'm getting them because I like the way they look. I'm not going to change who I am just because my hair's different. Do I seem arrogant in any way? Won't take offence if you think so, you've got a right to an opinion!

i've got dreads and love em, had them put it (backcombed etc) and they're growing well now. get a fellow dread head to put em in for you, i'd do it for you but i'm guessing you live nowhere near me! oh yeah and make sure your hair is plenty long enough or they'll look pretty shitty for a while before they've grown to a good length

Nah you dont seem arrogant. Just saying lots of people I have met over the years (at school, festivals, parties, uni etc) who have had dreads came across as being a dick. Usually because they take on the 'listen to me I have dreads' attitude, saying that I know of 2 people with dreads, and theyre 'safe as f*ck'.

I have dreads, although i haven't exactly taken care of them, so don't use me as an example.. but they hurt when you get them put it ! as lnog as you wash them a lot and palm roll you will be fine. Be prepared for some of the biggest evil stares and also oi bob marley a lot, which gets VERY tediuos. Also be prepared for black people to like you a lot more :)

It's true, great fun having dreads.

P.S visit dreaheadhq and also knottyboy for LOTS of pics and hints! I can't remember the exact address but google it and you should be fine.

PPS www.dreadheadhq.com www.knottyboy.com quality sites!

Cheers, I can see your point though.

Yeah, I've been on dreadheadhq, that was a really helpfull site. It's quite annoying, because for best results you need residue free shampoo, haven't found anywhere close that sells it yet, they all seem to be packed full of fragrance and moisturisers etc.

i had them about a month back my mam did them for me because she used to be a hairdresser they really hurt when she was back coming but im a pussy :$ my hair was abit to short at the time so they just constantly stuck up and i ended up getting wrong off teachers (N) i break up soon for ever so im hoping to get them professionally done unsure on price though... do you know? ive got some pictures at my mams but im currently at dads ill add you to msn tomorro and ill show you (Y)

as for them being unheigenic thats aload of bull they are only dirty for the first week because your not aloud to wash them  and they get really itchy (or i just might of had nits :-lol) then you can wash them and treat them as normal hair but they only get unheigenic if you wash them then dont dry your hair throughlly they start to get mouldy lol

i reckon they look awesome and cant wait to get them done again (Y)

oh yer and did you know that it takes like 5-8hrs to but in lol

hope you like them (Y)

dont get them professionaly done, looks wank FACT

get a comb, dont be a pussy and put in some effort.

i had dreads, they were good fun, a f**king monster to maintain though, but worth it if you've got the patience.

they aren't that much harder to wash than normal hair, but you need residue free shampoo which costs a bit.

msn me if you need to know any more

yer i aint found any were that does them :( im going to try college because people like to practice doing them on people there yer and as the guy says above you need shampoo that does not contain conditioner and you need this stuff called gunk in a pink tub you can get it from boots

as to the guy above who says not to get them done profesionally it makes a big difference as they get right down to the roots and all the way to top makes it easier to maintain (Y)
