Is A Monty Splitter Worth Buying?

I run one on the back and did on the front,

I found it looked pimp but on the front it was so un-reliable always leaking and getting pulled out, but that may have been the age, i love mine on the rear but it makes it hard to bleed because you have to do both sides...

Your choice

I don't personally think there's any real point in having them. The performance advantage won't really be that great, and they're not the easiest to bleed, not to mention the leaking problems people seem to have with them. I've never found the fact that my Magura has a slave piston to be a bad point about it really, it just works as is...

If you've got the money and you want to risk it you could try it I guess, but I'd personally steer clear.

They really are shit, even with a really decent bleed. There purpose is for the pads to go in at the same time, and hit the rim at the same time, they dont at all. Sometimes they do but sometimes the pistons just dont leave the rim at the same time, it would be impossible for them to hit at exactly the same time every time.

When my wheel isnt central or goes out of line the splitter adjusts the pads to the placing of the wheel. But its not worth it really.

But when my brake works it works well, and i think this is down to my splitter.

Another point to note is that you need 2 slave cylinders that are the same unless you put a barb on one pipe and a olive and compression nut on the other.

Yeah, Seems like alot of work .

When I used to have maggies , I just used completely stock brakes (Apart from pads) and if you take the time to set them up properly , they can do everything a splitter enables it to do , Just takes time :)

I had one on the rear and it caused nothing but trouble my foot was always catching it and pulling it off, also there a pain to bleed because you need to bleed both sides. I would stay away from them mate (Y)

There more tucked away than a normal crossover, if you put them under the frame correctly :S

Anyway, my man JoeB's brake feels alot better than a crosover bled with oil, i dont think it makes much difference with water, but with an oil bleed, it feels alot nicer IMO :)

If You use mineral oil, go for it :)

If you know how to put the pipe over the bolt properly, you shoudlent have any trouble at all with leaking, I have helped joe with bleeding his on many occasions, and its a bit of a bitch bleeding both sides, but worth it with oil (Y)
