Smo™
They'll most probably take legal action I guess. For future reference, never EVER allow autmatic updates. It's one of the first things you should do when you get a new computer/install windows.

Extreme_biker0
AFAIK they're just going to stop giving updates to people running a pirated copy.
Haz
Do as Siders says, first time you log on, you will still get the log on screen, but when you sign in, you won't get the message saying, verify a new legal serial. Once you start up again, you will be free from the clutches of evil.Alternatively, I can send you the file allready modded.
Monkey
I've seen this:http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=31281and I have thought that the program "Remove On Reboot" available from here:http://www.freedownloadscenter.com/Shell_a..._Extension.htmlmight be useful in doing this. That aside, when the update appeared as "Windows Genuine Advantage Update" I did tell it not to install because I knew what it was and also not to remind me to install it again.Smartarse, eh? poopipe
Why the hell does nobody pay for XP ? It's only £90 for XP pro if you buy it with a system, hard drive, cpu or motherboard. A decent case costs more than that. Running without updates is silly - unless you like a machine where the holes aren't patched regularly - Which is probably where half XP's bad security rep comes from. Danny
Some universities/colleges will sell its student really cheap copies of XP ie £20-30 for xp pro. Anyway all the workarounds have been mentioned in this thread.
