who,me?
Ey-up lads,Havin probs with my Hope M4. Basically the front one sqeels like a bitch, pads are lined up and have plently of life and its been bled, disk has been cleaned with proper stuff, I did put a bit of copper grease on the back of both pads, didnt seem to make a difference, but didnt really want to over-do it...whats the reccomended amount to put on?? Is there anything else i should try? and the rear isnt sharp whatsoever...I REALLY have to sqeeze the lever just to get a skid out of the rear, this is really irritating me to say the least, esp when doin trialsy type stuff. Once again pads are not worn, disk has been cleaned, freshly and thuroughly bled so no air. All pads line up spot on. As with the pads front and rear i have rubbed them down with fine emry paper...is it possible for something to have soaked in that far into the pad maybe?? Help...!cheers chris
Lee Cable
i had the same problem with my clara on the front, rebleed it. Sounds like air in system..From Lee
Lawnmowerman
Forget the copper grease. As your pads rock around in the caliper they gradually rub the grease out to the sides and it gets onto the pads and rotor. I reccommend you sand your pads back, clean the grease off, clean your rotor and start again
Alun Goch
Sounds like the disk and/or pads are contaminated. Give everything a really good clean with some degreaser and something like a green washing up pad. Rinse well with plenty of water and try again.Alun

But will scrub the pads alot and give the disks a once over with some wire wool then clean...let u nothanks agenchris
skandy32
yup, contaimination sounds like the problem. I've just fixed my m4s after months of them slowly getting worse. In the end, they needed new seals (behind the pistons) (£3.99 a caliper off crc!) because the old ones were slightly worn, and every now and then the smallest amount of brake fluid must have got to the disc / pads! But because they're an open system, the brake lever never felt any different (as they adjust themselves). Then rebleeded them after new seals. Eventually after a couple hours riding pads burn off what contaminated them, so all is good now. Cut a long story short, try new seals...! In terms of the sound they make though, a squeeling high pitched squeal, should mean its working fine. Thats when i find mine perform nice and sharp anyway. Check out the hope site for any info about replaceing seals etc... but if you've already bled the system before, you sound like you'd be knowing what your doing Hope that helpsandy
