Urpedigreechumdog
I've noticed a lot of broken nanos on TF, and now i've broken mine, i'm wondering what you guys did to get it fixed etc?I read something on AppleInside about cracked screen being under warrent now, but don't know how true it is. anzo
Contact Apple, tell them how shit your ipod is...they sent you a big box via UPS, put your ipod in it and they'll come out with the 'we might fix it' thing...although its cheaper to replace the whole unit.So about a week later you get a brand new ipod at your door, if your lucky, they'll send you the wrong one and you could end up with a Video or something. They will cover pretty much anything on warrenty, I guess its because of all the lawsuit threats. Especially if you still have your purchase receipt.
Urpedigreechumdog
I dont have the recipt, but i do have the box and the warranty piece of paper-ma-jig.I'll send them a shemale in a min

They have a tick box for if you have a recipt or proof of purchase, you might get away with saying that you have proof...they never asked me for any so you may be ok. If they bring it up, just say you have your warrenty papers and 'assumed' thats what it meant.
Urpedigreechumdog
That sounds ok, but i can't find any online form Would you mind giving me a link please?

Lee Cable
If your iPod's LCD display is cracked due to accidental damage, do not send your iPod in for service I presume thats bad yes?
anzo
I didnt see that. Now, you're probably screwed. You could try and blag it though. As your Ipod is f**ked, have a look to see if there is anything else that could be done to make it fixable under warrenty...I heard the nanos snap in half?Lol, nah I'm joking, although its worth looking into.On that note, how old is the nano? And where did you buy it from? Some shops do an insurance cover on the product, its worth a look.
Danny
Is the actual lcd broken or just the plastic cover?

Urpedigreechumdog
The actual lcd is broken. I bought it off my friend 3 months ago, it was brand new then because apple sent him 2 when he ordered one.Cheers for the replies.
Urpedigreechumdog
Hmm, it does look like i'm screwed. Anyone know of any cowboy ipod screen fixers? Can't find any dodgey geezers on eBay (not for iPod repair anyway).
manxrider
Got the same problem except I'm even more anoyed because I hit it and it broke. I hate being angry.
ogre
you could claim it on waranty for "something else" i.e buy something like a few "rare earth" magnets, like me people usually use them on minatures to hold arms in place (how i found out about them) but if you set a few of them loose on you ipod then you could claim it on warranty... Hobnobs
Theres always the "send it back to them with a letter saying how much you love apple, with nothing apart from an address" method. More than likely they will fix it, depending on how well you play the guilt card in your letter.
george_bush
I dented my i pod is that under waranty?
Urpedigreechumdog
The magnet thing wont work because i threw it onto the side in the kitchen and the screen cracked when it landed, and you can see lines etc on the lcd..Hmm, back t'drawing board. 011001000110010101110010
Fill out the form for repair on the apple site. They send you a box to send it back to them. You package it up, call up UPS. UPS man comes to pick it up, they get it the next day then the day after they send you a new one. Whole process takes about a week. Just got my new one in the post.
