Ross Gardner
with sidehopping, its all about your technique. Preload is probably the most important as the take off is a big part of it. Another thing with sidehops is you need to be brave, we you are pushing yourself to do bigger sidehops what most people tend to do is put their foot down which wont help you! just be brave and work on your technique and you should see a rapid improvement
basher
a good idea is to watch a vid with sumone side hopping in it so you have the jist of what to do. then go and do it on something small and work your way up. if you are still struggling just ride with someone who can do it and get them to help you. its the best way its better than anyway that can be posted or read on a website. i-hate-rules
when i first started side hopping i started on a curb and now few months later i can side hop about 2ft i have only bin riding for about 3 months so keep it up and you will get there in the end. i have found that the technique for me is to hop and then pull your front wheel over the object first and then the back just follows but it changes for everyone so you will just have to practice. keep trying mate
DAB
The one thing you might not be told is you need to use the pedals and a small kick once you lift the front wheel so you can get the back wheel up in a straight line otherwise you can end up hopping backwards the best thing to do is get the lift dialed first
MikeCottTrials
i find it helps me alot if i turn the bars slightly towards the direction that i want to sidehop plus even though its seriously hard i would learn to go away from the foot you have forward, and try to learn to land on both wheels because the ones where you front wheel it and then pivot on suck its just plain cheating

Callum Trialsin
Keep practicing at them, start small and work you way up.You also need to learn with each foot forward, i found it was easier with my forward foot near the wall but when you try it with the other you can get more height.Just starting to good higher now, but once you have the basics you progress quickly.Callum
