totiredtoride
I know this may seem like a stupid question but all the trials ridders i see are young and fit, i'm pretty fit as i ride downhill and have done for a few years now. I did start riding trials about 3 yrs ago but only managed the basics? backhops small gaps and bunnyhops etc! gave up after a few months of riding as it was winter and never got to go out riding due to the rain. Then the other day i was down at Porthcawl (local for me) watching a couple of awesome riders and made me think of getting a trials bike again. I'm thinking that even though i'm 32 if i don't give it another go now it'll be to late as i'm not getting no younger, but the question is is it to late? :$ any older riders on here? anyone aged say 28-40? Ash-Kennard
you can't teach an old dog new tricks.but learning trials is definately possible, although i imagine you will find it harder than most of the other riders.
Ben Jones
As long as your having fun then who cares , No-ones saying you have to dedicate half your life to it or ride every day for hours so i'm sure it won't be a problem and you know about bikes from downhill, so what you waiting for?Ben

DAB
Been riding for almost 10 years, and i'm 28 now and still going strong....... Go out and have some funn
Heatsink
I'm a spritely 30 years young. Still out most evenings and learning new things! Bunny hops are getting better and I've branched out into some basic ramp work at the moment. There's loads of variety to keep things interesting I don't think I stick out too much, in fact trials is a great way to turn back the clock by burning off that beer belly and of course you can cover up any hair loss under that helmet! When I stack, I don't know if I take any longer to recover. It depends on your level of fitness, and I guess that typically around your thirties life conspires to try and turn us into unfit couch potatos. Burning up the streets a few times a week is on another plane in terms of a fun work out compared to all that boring gym work and jogging other people do (ever seen a happy jogger?)Definately get into the trials I say!SteveBeen riding for almost 10 years, and i'm 28 now and still going strong....... Go out and have some funn

deadly venom
totiredtoride,My good man, no, you are not to old to learn. How long it will take you to pick things up is debatable. Some say it takes longer when you are older but I have seen people in their mid to late twentys who have become interested in flatland and they are riding like there is no tomorrow. So, no, you are not to old to learn.Ride on,Deadly Venom

Lee Cable
NO WAY, your never to old to try something new are you? If you enjoy the sport, then you should carry on. Bugger the age. I to be honest i dont think that him being older will make much, if any difference in how quickly he learns. It obviously varys from person to person. He may even learn quicker as he has many years of downhilling, and he may pick up the technique more easily that others that have, when they start trials with no background of any other type of riding. poopipe
I started old too (25, i'm 27 now) so I probably qualify - I can still get away with wearing shorts though.I think Lego wins the grandad prize but theres a fair number of old boys on here to share memories of the last century with.Have a look at trashzen.com for evidence of old men riding - Julien's nearly as old as Hans Rey Edited May 3, 2006 by poopipe

Mark W
You're the same age as Martyn Ashton, and he's one of the most respected riders in the world. I know he didn't start at the same age as you, but if he can go that big, there's no reason you can't too if you're around that age It'll take a while to learn, but you've got it in you

coolbeen
Hi i would not say you are to old to ride you can never be to old as long as you have fun doing it then you can never be to old to do it. I think i will be good to get some more older people in to the sport. So the old people e.g the old 70s and 80 year olds can see that it is not just the young ones that ride.
