011001000110010101110010
Im sure watching competitions they have to use 4 strokes are the world champ level due to emission problems with the ratty 2 strokes.
manxrider
I think it's by 2008 or something they have to be riding 4 strokes not sure though. It's just that montessa and who ever else are getting a head start. I think.
anzo
Scorpa? They've had a 4 stroke model out for a few years now. Yes, I think it is 2008 they have to be 4 stroke, but I think I read in T&MX news that there is a bit of 'umm and ahhh' about it, as in it might not be bought in now, or can be avoided with ACU regulations, something with it, can't remember it now.Although its just going to cause more moaning from tree huggers. In club competitions, eventually, there will be more 4 strokes than 2, as manufactures will seize selling them. So, we will decrease in emissions, slightly, but they are noisy bastards. There was an issue with DEFRA a few years ago, trying to ban all off road sports as they 'scar' the countryside. Its utter shit that we, a minority in comparison to what factorys, cars, buses, lorries, planes, boats and everything else under the f**king sun pump out into the atmosphere.DEFRA are pathetic. Government organisation, so they keep quiet about the REAL problems we're having. Ok, lets wipe out half the countryside and double emissions and noise with widening the M1, where are DEFRA now to defend the countryside? f**kers. andyroo
Went to the Sheffield round of the Moto Trials world series and most of them had two strokes...
Trials Dave
only montesa and sherco currently have 4-stroke models availablethe rest are good old 2 strokesashscorpa have also released one.gas gas havent and arent going to make a 4 stroke.the only reason a 4 stroke was built was to pass new low emissions tests etc but gas gas are going to make a 2 stroke with emissions low enough to pass them.2 strokes are better anyway Went to the Sheffield round of the Moto Trials world series and most of them had two strokes...the 4 strokes dont have the bottom end power to do the big steps indoors so they arent as good as the 2 strokes indoors. thats why dougie lampkin and fujinami were struggling so much
anzo
This is were Gas Gas and Beta start panicing.Honda (montesa) and Yamaha (Scorpa) have mastered engines and have enough money for testing/developing, a lot more than Gas Gas or Beta. This means that Gas Gas and Beta are reviving 4 Stroke engines with 'borrowed' knowledge, so to speak. It'll be monkey see monkey do now for the next 7 years or so until they're all settled in and then it'll be a wait for the first manufacture to make the daring move to change them all again. It'll be like the watercooled engine situation all over again.
