Ok so im looking at getting a new case, psu, cpu cooler and a gfx cooler.

Im looking for a case with a side window with nothing or near nothing on it fans yes but nothing else Upto £70 depending on how nice it is no front door on it just the bays, was looking at the areocool bay dream case for this so anything like it please :)

PSU will have o be a modular psu plenty of power to power all my bits and bobs £50 or near that maybe bit more.

cpu cooler for my AMD 64 3200+ must be very good at its job as i am going to be over clocking my CPU ;)

GFX cooler was looking at the zalman ones really so anything like that has to fit a BFG 6600 gt oc (AGP) but i may be upgrading mobo/gfx soon.

So anything you can think of let me know as i have been looking for a fair while now and just can't make my mind up. I'm wanting to go green or red inside the case as i have blue at the moment and im getting a little bored of it to be honest lol. Might stick with blue or go for the Blue/Green or Blue/Red effect ;)

Cheers for any help :D

Regards,

Nick.

PS, Forgot to add im looking for a hardrive aswell SATA connection 120GB or more.....16mb cache if possible :)

I'd generally stay away from the pre-mod cases, the build quality of them doesn't seem to be anywhere near as good as say, a Lian-Li which is what I would reccommend- The Lian-Li PC7 Plus (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Lian_Li_Cases_225.html)

PSU will have o be a modular psu plenty of power to power all my bits and bobs £50 or near that maybe bit more.

I'd probably go for a Hiper Type R, a bit over £50 but it's worth it. (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Hiper_461.html)

Zalman are renound for making good, quiet CPU coolers (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Zalman_121.html) Or maybe a Gigabyte one with the adjustable speed thing built into it. (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Gigabyte_409.html) I have one of them for sale, MSN me if you're interested

GFX cooler was looking at the zalman ones really so anything like that has to fit a BFG 6600 gt oc (AGP) but i may be upgrading mobo/gfx soon.

Again, I'd reccommend Zalman, I have one on my 7800GT OC and it's silent. (When under-volted to 7V) The card has never gone above 50C with it on so it does a good job. :)

I have a 40GB Samsung SpinPoint P SATA HDD and it's been pretty good. The only thing is that it's only 8MB Cache. (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Samsung_255.html)

Also, you might want to check out Western Digital Raptors, they're noisy as hell but they're pretty good apparently. Although they're pretty expensive. (http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Online_Catalogue_Western_Digital_192.html) Further down the page for the 150GB one.

Regarding the Western Digital Raptors, dead fast, but you may find them too expensive, so I'd recomend buying the 74gb drive and an 80gb secondary drive. I have that set-up (albiet with an external secondary HD) and it means my bot disk isnt full of shite, such as music files, and my music files are unaffected by system crashes, no loss of data, etc.

Ultimately it's your choice though. Siders advice is sound, Zalman is good stuff, but watch for space in your case, thier stuff is bigger than you might think.

I have one of those, it's IDE though. Pretty noisy but good otherwise.

That Big Typhoon looks pretty good. But I would go with one that has a built in speed controller. Each time you clock higher then just put the fan speed up a bit which'll reduce the temps and you'll get a higher clock, in theory.

You'll grow out of it one day :wink2: I still say get the Lian-Li and mod it yourself, gives it a personal touch then.

I don't think they're much cheaper than £50 to be honest, if you do find one cheaper get it, it's a bargain. :D

No problemo, gives me something to do. :P

What you think about the NT02 and the Zalman then? I mean with the Big Typhoon i can use SpeedFan to manage the speed of the fans :) just not too sure...will also be needing some heatspeaders for my ram will need ebough for 4 sticks of 512 DDR333 not sure which to get though and will need to go with a red/blue theme inside ;)

I wouldn't bother with heat spreaders on RAM to be honest.

If you really want to then something from here. http://www.coolercases.co.uk/wc_ramsinks_shims.htm

I have some blue ones on my GFX card, can't remember where they came from though. :$

EDIT: Here they are :)http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/Onl...Zalman_398.html 5th one down.

Thermaltake big typhoon or thermalright Si/XP-120 for the CPU, i have an xp-120 cooling my opteron 144 (stock speed 1.8GHZ) at 2.5GHZ 24/7, idle is about 30, load about 40. Thats with an akasa amber fan which is in-audible in my pretty damn quiet system. The big typhoons are meant to be very good too, im annoyed i didnt get one for my media system now :( as the arctic cooling freezer pro i got isnt that good.

HD wise i'd recommend a samsung, ive just bought a pair of them (one sataII one pata) after much deliberation over which brands are best especially considering recent reliability. They are damn quiet and mine is damn fast too, obviously not raptor speeds, but good amongst like specced competition including all those with 16mb caches.

Don't bother with ramsinks on your system ram. They have been proved to make about 5MHz difference tops.

I'd say go with the zalman for your 6600GT, also be wary and check whether yours has an hsi bridge chip as you'll need an extra zalman cooler for that if your current cooler is cooling that too.

As for cases, its all down to personal preferance in the end, obviously the quality of the lian-li cases speaks for itself, although antec, silverstone and coolermaster make very good cases too.

For a PSU, look to get either a tagan, enermax (i have the modular liberty 400W powering my overclocked system easily), seasonic, hiper or antec units, anything from those brands over 400W will be more than enough. As your looking to the budget end, try also looking at FSP (also called sparkle) as they offer really good value efficient psu's. My enermax really has been excellent and the 120mm fan hasn't gone over 1000rpm since i've had it so has remained silent.

if you want any more advice give me a shout one msn (Y)

Cheers for all that Andy :) i have whack you on msn just incase kind of thing.

I have decided on some thing's to be getting 100% the case i have decided on and the PSU so they are now sorted. Although i'm still confused what to do with the CPU cooler and HD i may just get the HD i have said in my 1st post and see what happens as i will still have my 120gb IDE one in the pc aswell if anything dies on me. I'm still thinking about getting the Big Typhoon but not sure as i don't know if there are any better ones about..What are your thoughts on this?

Regard's,

Nick.
