good to hear your going.

I did my first tyketrial waaaay back in 99, seems so long ago now :S It was on my 18" framed xc bike, with NO trials bits lol. I entered beginner and came 13th

I will be riding Elite as I have done for the past 3 years

I reccomend taking some spare clothes, back cowm can be bleak at times, but if the weathers good its lovley! Also take some lunch, or maybe money to buy some food, you'll need it!!

When you get there, go and sign on. you will be given a punch card DONT LOSE IT!

You then probably have enough time to look at a few sections. Pay close attention to them and think out exactly where you want to go. You will probably see a few riders (me included) walking them doing funny hand movment, thats just us riding the section in our head so we know what to do when it comes to riding it.

Pay attention to where the course goes, theres nothing worse than missing a gate and getting a 5.

When you start, go to the section number that maches the last number on your punchcard (eg, rider number 123, go to section 3)

When you get there give the observer your card, this gets you your place in the cue.... While you wait, either walk the section, watch someone else do it or go and get warmed up on some nearby rocks.

if you can, go around just behind some good riders, whatch what they do, it will help you find lines that you might have missed and helps teach you techniques too.

If your about to make a dab try and put for foot somwhere you can get out of easily, I have seen many a rider try and get up a rock only to not make it and dab at the bottom of the rock, this makes it very hard to get back on without having to get another run at the rock. if you dab, dab on top of somthing, then its easier to drag the bike up and get over the rock.

If you dab , keep your foot down and take a look around you, as long as your foot says where it is you can keep it there for as long sa you like (time limit permitting) and still have the one dab. Move the bike to where you can either get back on easily, or move it over a difficult object. It really helps to rest a pedal on a rock or to jam your front wheel in somwhere when getting back on from a dab.

Keep your feet up, it may sound funny, but its really true!! if the bike slides, dont dab straight away, ride it out and more often than not the bike will settle again and you can carry on.

Its polite to thank the observers at least on the last lap.

When you have finnished, hand the punchcard in as soon as you can, sometimes if you have drawn with someone, time can be the deciding factor.....Dont forget to thank the organisers.

I think thats everything, I will be there, might see you around (Y)

Whatever route you start on you can change route up to having done three sections - so if you start on white and find it's too easy, come back to control and we'll change you to blue (or the other way round).

Please ALWAYS hand your punchcard in at control - even if you're retiring - it saves us waiting around to do the results thinking that you're still riding the sections!
