new feature of Windows Vista: (for all you Mac lovers and MS hating people)

"Secure Startup"

Apparently Vista will scan processes attempting to run before you've even got into Desktop, therefore killing off any trojans or stuff like that before it has a chance to load. And thats going to be standard security on Vista! Micro$oft have got a real rectum raping lately over their security issues with all their operating systems and word has it that this time they arent taking security on Vista with a pinch of salt. So hopefully viruses will be few and far between.

For the people saying yeh dont worry I can watch the pirate/cracked HD-DVD's or Blu-Ray dvd's on Widnows like I can watch pirates now, think again... I think pirating will be a thing of the past soon. These HD movies are going to come encrypted to the max and pirating them will be 10x harder than it is currently. So make the most of it while you can because soon its not going to be as simple as clicking the 'Burn it' button. (N)

And finally, as for Beta Vista running slow, the memory used just by the Beta is approximately 800mb idling!!! thats with nothing running  your going to need atleast 2gb of ram to have a semi-comfortable ride on the bandwagon to enjoy Vista's full capabilities. Heh! The time will come when most of us will be shelling out more $$$ to Mr.Vole

PS. I do really like Mac (before i get flamed) :) its the tits.

Yep, just the same as how loads of the Windows viruses are ones that you get in sketchy e-mails and stuff like that? Ah well. Double standards in an Mac vs. PC thing? Surely not :P

Meh...

Yeah, perhaps Mac users are just more intelligent and don't click on stupid links in emails that are obviously viruses :P Whether Macs are "immune" or not (I'm pretty sure they're not), there's no denying that they are much much safer than PCs. Also, there are software updates really frequently (Every week or so), so any holes get patched way quicker than they do with MS (2 service packs in 5 years?). Having said that, I've never been scared of my PC getting a virus, because I have up-to-date AVG and some common sense.

Secure startup sounds like a load of bollocks. If a virus can get through the OS and install itself, I'm sure some people will find a way to find a hole in this "secure startup" thing. Microsoft will always be a target...

Even if you're running a Mac, you'd be an idiot to have it connected to the internet without appropriate security. It'd be like leaving a car in a multi-storeycar park in Brixton, with all the doors open. As much as I love Macs, I know they aren't invincible, anyone who thinks they are, needs a rain check.
