MasterOfGussets
I'm building up a new bike after about 5 years of no riding. I don't want to spend to much because I think I'm goning to have to re-learn everything I could do (not much), so it'll probably be bashed to buggary in no time.I've been looking at a few frames for a few weeks now and am still no closer to picking one.I'll be riding mostly street, but do have plans to ride a little natural. I'm thinking about either a Heatsink Sidehop (higher grade alloy than most frames that're +£50 of it's price), Toxsin Two, Monty Urban or the Echo Control. (I had been looking at a Zoo Pitbull and the Gu Typhoon but I reckon the BB rise is a little too much for a beginner?)Any input on this would help vastly because I just keep changing my mind back and forth. I'm really beginning to piss myself off to be honest.EDIT: Another option is the Aorta? Edited April 30, 2006 by MasterOfGussets
Ali C
I think either an echo control or ashton justice (bet people are getting fed up of me saying that one now )the ashton is cheaper though and I recken it rides nicer too.I cant comment on the sidehop as I have never tried one, the monty urban is errmm....different, my old one was ok, but not great. I would stay clear of super high bbs unless you go on one first and like it.
PaRtZ
Any input on this would help vastly because I just keep changing my mind back and forth.does "the toxsin looks nice" count?
MasterOfGussets
Yeah, that counts!I'd been leaning towards the Heatsink because of the good price. But I like the Control more and hear good things about it. Other option, I guess, is to shell out a little extra for the frame (KOT MS2?) and skimp on the components until I need to replace them? chrishayton
iolobikes.comits what ever u want, lolhave a look.. the echo control is always gd too. (little boring) IMOiolo.controls are nice, but like aran said they are boring and nearly everyone has one. IOLO will make you a frame to your geometry out of high quality steel ( strong and light) and they quality is really nice, i know my next frame will be a Iolobike. Prices are around the same as a control but you get much better customer service ( free repairs if it breaks unlike echo koxx etc) and its a British bike company which adds even more coolness.ps look on the website and see how nice the frames are for yourself
mtbjosh
yeah ashton justice is great for the money you pay, i love mine its helped me a lot and are ace on street. I am not too keen on the MS2 as i have only had a play on one i really liked and that was set up perfectly (adam is it from tarty cant remember his name ) or an echo pure, they ride really nice but still feel quite short and really chuckable considering the 1075 wheelbase. Try and have turns on mates bikes etc and make sure you know what type you want and your riding style

tipsy Jock
05 pitbull, Control or an ashton if i was making the choice. Ashton is that little bit more flickable and fun though i reckon.
MasterOfGussets
Ok, thanks for all the help.I'll have to have a better look at the Ashton. It's just that the seat looks disgusting.I'm being drawn to the Aorta... nice price, nice geo (for me).
Robwalker
Hi, I'd say the '05 pitbull, look in the for sale/wanted section i think CLS is selling one brand new for 180 or something silly like that, and if you want to go on one im more than happy to let you have a go on mine Rob
Waynio
the new Yaabaa Bow comes in @ £245 !!!!!!1075 wheelbase +30mm b/b rise. i got mine last week, looks different and rides pretty lush. the medium rise in the b/b makes th bike still feel quite short and compact, all depends on how tall you are, if your 5ft 4-9 1060 - 1080 wheelbase would be good, if your over 6ft you will need something maybe bit longe if your into looking @ a "new" skool type of frame. depends what your looking for? design? looks? performance?Waynio.......................... I'm around 6', so that'd suggest a wheelbase of mroe than 1085? Not too fussed about colours as it can always be changed, but I'd prefer silver or black. Would like to be able to learn spins, pivots, manuals, etc. But I would like to aim at a mid-height BB rise (+30mm?).If I'm going on that, the closest I can see is a KOT MS2 long. (1099mm w/b, +30mm BB rise).
