King C
Not really a bodge but made a hungry freewheel protector. Lathed a sheet of metal into basically an aluminium bashring but I'm not going to land on it as its for a mod with a bash guard. Only £8 and a couple hours work. Piccies later. Bionic Balls
some of these ain't bodges...they're permanent solutions mine has to be the fact that my ENO lockring thread stripped...but it doesn't matter...my bb axle is the perfect length adam
Davetrials
I use a magura catalouge as a shim for my barshaha love that.some of these bodges are too good, specially robs steerer a bodge is a quick 10min job with what ever is on the floor/in your bag. not with help from lathes and cnc machines:P
the judge
I've not got any piccys but I stripped both of the threads on one side of my frame and so had to bolt the 4bolt mount on one side to my booster and then bolt the booster to the frame just using the other two holes on the other side. It worked alright for a couple of days til I could get it helicoiled

Alun Goch
Hows this for a bodge/mod!!!?(content.....)One pretty big bodge, but done pretty damm nicely!!Not really a bodge but made a hungry freewheel protector.....some of these ain't bodges...they're permanent solutions adamHell yeah, these put bodges to shame! Nice work y'all. Come on though, theres gotta be more out there somewhere, if not, break your bike, bodge it better, and take a pic?!!Alun
spode@thinkbikes
I just snapped my rear hanger. I've bodged it by using part of a DMR tensioner wedged between the wheel and the frame and using the bolt of my rear wheel holding it on. I'd take a photo, but it's all boxed up for my trip to San Francisco...
Thurston
I've had to electric tape my level onto the bars after threading the level body.Cheers Thurston
sexymike
Hows this for a bodge/mod!!!?The story is.....I bought some second hand fattys, go to build bike and steeres too damm short, by loads!Humm my initial thought was to sell them and try and get another set. I really didn't want to do that as these forks were mint and theres not too many of them around. My dad had some crazy idea that he could extend the steere tube As he's an engineer I took him a little more serious. So we measured how much it was short by (16mm) and he made a steel round lump, lathed the bottom down so it would fit inside the steere, then drilled the middle out the same as the steere, welded it all together and smoothed/filed it all down Now I have one mint perfect length steere He also lathed my bash down the other day too One pretty big bodge, but done pretty damm nicely!!Just how much did he charge you? Robwalker
Hi, The other day my hub was loose, (again) and this time i decided to take full inspection instead of just tightening it up, little did i know there was three bearings missing!! Hmmmm i though, then it suddenly clicked as i was wondering around my jungle of a garage and stumbled upon my brother fishing gear. The weights for the floats when you were fishing! of course!(the ones in the middle of the pic), i thought they must be around the same size, opened it up and there they were, shabang exactly(well near enough) the same size!! A bit of grease and some tightening together it works a treat! don't know how long till its going to give way though as there only lead balls So i've just brought a new hub to be on the safe side Rob

Surely they'll rape the hub?!! They dont look too round to me! Either they'll get out of shape and wreck the cups in your hub, or for the same reason they will shape themselves under use and work sweet!Class though, I mean, what are the chances finding them, exactly the right size!Alun
Robwalker
Lol i know i was so glad when i found them, thought i was going to have to wait to get a new hub to ride! But what my mate thinks will happen (which will probaly happen) is that where the bearings are only lead the're going to crush under all the pressure, but i think they'll hold out to new week sometime!! Jez
Seem to remember cutting up a biscuit tin lid into small strips years ago to act as a shim for a THOROUGHLY raped left crank. Worked surprisingly well.I think I've done this a few times as well: raping a metric thread beyond the point of use, and then just forcing an imperial thread into it to make it stick I think one of my old maggy levers was like that when I sold it

club_card
i've done sooo many bodges on 20 year old bikes as most of the parts can't be bought new anymore but some of the finer ones i've done seen are the following...my drilled and gutted mech, used as a tensioner, spaced out cogs for wider chain, took off the lefthand arm thingy that supports the cogs (no what it's called :$ ) to make it easier to get my rear wheel out ( chrisking fun bolt... nuff said ) took all the inner springs out and used a cut down spoke where the cable usually goes to lock it out, all together i saved 38gr using the bottom half of a truvative chainguide as a chain tesioner,my mate also made a direct copy of his E-13 chain guide out of carbon fibre, complete with his own lighter chaingaurd and anodized gold bolts the most pimp and best finished bodge i've ever seen Edited May 7, 2006 by club_card

Simpson
some of these bodges are too good, specially robs steerer a bodge is a quick 10min job with what ever is on the floor/in your bag. not with help from lathes and cnc machines:POk this is one of them but to tell you the truth i dont know if its worthy compared to some of the others :$ basically grips kept moving down the handlebars no matter what i did to stop it... hair spray - glue - hole roles of tape - i looked up on my work table an saw another set of grips so i created the 1.5 length grip just minutes before i left the house. Its so comfy and if you loose your grip still plently more bar to hold on to

Ben Geary
Ok not sure if i deserve to post in the thread but heres a half bodge i did to stop my grips moving along my bari was well pissed off that my grip kept moving in towards the lever - i was just 10 mins from going out on a ride setting up brakes when i saw a spare set of primo grips lying on the side - hmmmmmm - so cut them to the right length and rested them up against my lever an then put my grip back on worked super - no problems since - and if your hand slipps - endless grip Dude you have already posted that one
derenkirby
Hmmm i've got electric tape around my bb 'cause my left crankarm kept cmin loose and ive got micro scooter foam grips taped on 'cause my old grips kept slipping.
