Alun Goch
OK guys, tell us all about you'r greatest bodges, pics would be nice too!Only rule, no maggie TPA's, to common! Unless it's something specialAnyway, heres my attempts;clickyboo 1I duck taped a V brake lever blade to my maggie lever for more legerage when I had to use some koolstops for a while. Did give more power, but I suppose it is abit dodgy!And...clickyboo 2Overall, a very dodgy bike. Little money meant I skimped on parts. The bottom bracket and cranks I took off my old Y-frame sus bike, a few years old back then, and where impossible to stop wobbling! The frame and forks I bought for £70 off a mate, and I bought a headset, the only other thing I needed for £12.99.Had some amazing times on this though, last summer was amazing at our forest.A lot of things have broken by now, but the frame, headset lol, bar and stem are sound, anyone interested in them make me an offer. I was going to build it up myself as it's a decent frame, but unfortunately £notenough£.clickyboo 3Chain tensioner made from a cotton reel, short length of hosepipe, copper wire and cable ties! The seatpost I had was too small for the frame, so I ground a piece of aluminium tupe that nearly fitted a fraction smaller, stuck that in the frame with a stretched quick release off a micro-scooters handlebars, and found a clamp to squeeze the top of the tube to the seatpost! (had to cut some slits in for the tube to bend)I also ground (yes I like grinders!) the outer chainring round! Running single speed by the way.And the suspention had about 12 washers within the forks on EACH side, because when it bottomed out, which was often, the tire hit the underside of it!!Show me what you've got!Alun

Krisboats
Clicky (removed the info about what has been bodged up, try spot it yourself )Your "chain tensioner" is truly a work of bodge-art! Is it the crazy rubber wrap that looks like it goes around your downtube as a bashplate shock absorber?
Alexxx
The pin that holds the mech cage in place fell out so i put a lolly pop stick through it instead. And that was a good 5 rides ago i think i need a new one!My front wheel is a 36 hole D321 on a 32 hole hub, and the rim has two drill holes going through just one wall. Built last summer with odd spokes only buckled now. Survived the comp at fort bill and many other rides.Alex

Jez
I ain't got any pictures, but years ago I once constructed a DH-style chain guide out of the old knackered cage off a wellgo beartrap-type pedal and a bunch of cable ties.Worked damned well, too.Best bodge I've ever seen goes to a mate who totalled the BB and cranks on his bmx off some doubles...so he extracted the remains somehow, shoved a twig through the gaping hole, and proceeded to do one-footers, no-handers, and any combination of the above off the same 6' double.Said twig snapped when he rode off kerb later in the day.Nutcase. N.Wood
The pad i use to stop my mech banging against the frame fell out on a ride, so i went into the local corner shop, asked the dude for a strip of sellotape and found a bit of foam on the street to use as another pad.Worked awesome.I have a washer bodged with a thin bit of metal i cut down as i could find a thin enough washer.Using a 2 bolt maggie booster on a 4 bolt frame.S'about it methinks. PaRtZ
I bought an apollo outrage from a local charity store (long story) for £40. I kept it in great working condition for 3 years without spending a penny overcoming the following:Bent/snapped bars : spares Front derraileur fooked : Took it off with the chain rings and made it single front cogrear derraileur fooked : Kept the mech on but used a very long bolt in the low range to change gears (obviously when stopped) Paint job : spare black spray paint + tippex For trials, when I was using VP pedals the cage bolts snapped and I used paperclips to hold them on.When my shoes fell apart, I used duck tape :D

Withstands a 6" double then breaks on a kerb? hmmm...Great bodges guys, very creative! Keep 'em comingAlunNah I was there, we got the crank/breakage and the jumping with twig on video as well. Didn't get the twig breakage off a kerb though as we were riding home and didn't have the camera out (hardly worth videoing anyway). Obviously said twig had been weakened by a madman doing jumps on it, and that kerb was the last straw...'twas funny as fook anyhow.I'll have a look to see if I can find a copy of the vid (just for the stack footage if nothing else), but I think the only person who's got a copy (it's on VHS) is a guy who I'm no longer mates with. Rob_P
Hows this for a bodge/mod!!!?The story is.....I bought some second hand fattys, go to build bike and steeres too damm short, by loads!Humm my initial thought was to sell them and try and get another set. I really didn't want to do that as these forks were mint and theres not too many of them around. My dad had some crazy idea that he could extend the steere tube As he's an engineer I took him a little more serious. So we measured how much it was short by (16mm) and he made a steel round lump, lathed the bottom down so it would fit inside the steere, then drilled the middle out the same as the steere, welded it all together and smoothed/filed it all down Now I have one mint perfect length steere He also lathed my bash down the other day too One pretty big bodge, but done pretty damm nicely!!
