flipkickbs
I've just replaced my old KMC chain with a new KMC Kool bmx, and am now getting chain suck really badly. From what a few people have said, i'm getting that its the old chainring causing this as it was previously bed into my old chain. So is it just a simple case of replacing the chainring to get rid of this chain suck? Any help muchos appreciated Ian
CBProductions
Normally mechanical standards say to replace all parts of the drive at once ( i.e gears , chains, rings) to avoid above mentioned problems , have a look at the ring for any mishapes. Is it old ? Edited April 27, 2006 by CBProductions

And yeah, depending on your rear sprocket you would need to replace the chain ring aswell.
CurtisRider
could just try and ride it and see if it wears in, its happened got any pics of the sprocket/chainring so we can see how worn they are? if the teeth are hooked/spiked they are gone new drivetrain time
flipkickbs
Well my chainring was bad enough that i had to file off ridged edges from almost all the teeth. So i'm guessing new drivetrain would do the trick. But then again, my rear sprocket is near on perfect, so hopefully that can stay on. TheMunn
Yeah, i've found that single speed sprockets last a long ol' time. If your filing burrs off the ring then it will need replacing for sure.
flipkickbs
Well hopefully that will sort out the whole thing then I'll have to find a 20/ 22t chainring in a bikes shop tomorrow though Ian
