Freddie
Hey there I'm looking for some advice on what sound card to purchase along with my new speakers. I have decided to get the Logitech Z5500 speakers and am aware that I most probably need a better sound card as I have a typical bog standard excuse of a sound card at the moment. I have had a look around and I from what I see I realise that a very good sound card costs around £60+ whilst one that does the same job can be picked up for below half that price. Basically I don't really understand what is best to buy and what pros I should be looking for when buying a soundcard. If anyone has any advice for me or suggestions on what card to buy it will be greatly appriecated. Thanks,Freddie
Siders77
Anything from the Creative range, pretty much. I have the one with the front panel and it's awesome.

Freddie
Okies thanks for the replies so far I just looked into optical out to see exactly what it is and that makes sense Are there any other key things I should look for when picking the right sound card? Thanks in advance.
spode@thinkbikes
Creative junk? The X-Fi is an awesome card. You'd do well to pick one up if you can. I've had several Audigys and Live! cards too without issue - they are good quality. The only issue has been with some of the initial drivers. What card are you using at the moment? At present I'm using Creative AudioPCI (es1371,es1373) (wdm) which is probably rubbish due to the PC i have.
