Ash-Kennard
I can't work out why my bb area is creaking like a complete beatch.when I pull the crank forwards, against chain tension I get a cracking/creaking sort of sound, also if i stamp on it from the side (in the video). I can feel my bb axle moving even though my cups are done up to 60NM (did It the other day) my cranks are done up tight, and so is my middleburn lockring. I just can't work it out.here is the video of it. linkyBTW the bb is an fsa platinium pro bb.please help, I want to ride. ash-kennard
TheMunn
Did you grease it all when you installed it all ? Other than that you could check your pedals, or the chain itself. Might be a cracked frame ?
Ash-Kennard
Did you see my video? Its a control so I doubt it was the frame,The kmc chain is fairly new, The pedals are definately fine, If you see the vid Im not even touching the pedals,About greasing it, what did you mean? I greased the cups when I put it in but that is it. Should I have done more?
MrSuave
had this exact problem wih my echo control, running 'burns and square taper BB, stripped it down, degreased all threads and tapers, cleaned thouroughly and then applied nice bit of copper slip grease to all threads and tapers then tightened up crank bolts nicly..... no more creaking for 2months
Ash-Kennard
ok, so where do I grease, just the cups or the axle too?
TheMunn
Like Tom said, it would be best to take it off and give the threads and stuff a good clean, then put a ring of grease around the bb threads when putting it in and some on the bb axle interface where the crank sits and a little blob on the cranks bolts aswell. That should be okay after, make sure they are all FT aswell.FT=Fooooowkin' Tight
