dave33
sounds like the spring retainer is rubbing on the hub body, pull thedrive shell out and push the metal disc on a little more till it clicks in place

Felix
If the hub is new, that is normal. it needs some time to break in properly.
dave33
if the hub is new you should be able to back pedal with out the chain going slack.during the first 60 hours of use above average amonts of drag my be noticed not enough to warrant a new mech, increase the cage tension on the mech
planet x alan
If the hub is new, that is normal. it needs some time to break in properly.de grease it, how loud is the 'buzz' when you pedal?
flipkickbs
Make sure the lockring on your freehub is not coming into contact with your dropout. Mine did that and i had the exact same problem you were describing. Ian
Greetings
As Dave33 said, even in a new hub there shouldn't be such problems. Your axle is probably too tight so why not loosen it, see if it helps. Then put the wheel back on, see if there is no play (waggle the wheel and check if the rim isn't moving between the pads). If so, remove the wheel, tighten the cones up slightly and check it again. If this doesn't work I suggest you have a look at the bearings and maybe re-lube them (flush them with WD40 and oil them with a thin grease). dave33
or just locate the spring retainer as the pretty much the only thing that will make if do that, apart from damaged parts which would be more aparent
mat hudson
and there was me thinking king stuff was "precision" made. it definatley sounds like somthings too tight, i'm not an expert on king stuff (so dont listen) but i'd say the cones are too tight. Lawnmowerman
What sort of condition are your chain and cogs in? If theyre worn they will be hook shaped which will cause what your describing
munkee
What sort of condition are your chain and cogs in? If theyre worn they will be hook shaped which will cause what your describing Yup since the hub is new its probably unlikely to be that. Its going to just be a shagged drivetrain. Old Sprocket, old casette, old chain. I usually replace the lot all in one go.
Ali C
check that the serrated metal tabs on the end of the axle havnt snapped off and are interfeering with the cassette lock ring, I have had it happen twice to me and once to a friend
