Got a alpha release testing at the moment on random videos, but i've found a better way to do it, so i'll be re-doing it with this new method when i get home. Plus they'll be web uploading, like google. And online streaming, like google. Thanks for that but with us not been not validated i only look at videos because i cant reply in anything else accept new members chat.RobThen get validated? :x

onzatprodude
how about a bike picture topic at the top of the page just so we don't get people saying "post a picture of yours mod" constantly. just a suggestion?
adamtrials
how about a bike picture topic at the top of the page just so we don't get people saying "post a picture of yours mod" constantly. just a suggestion? There will always be tards on the forum, i doubt that would stop the pointless topics. However on THIS site there is a quite effective system where the top right cycles through peoplesgallerys. I think it would spoil the look of this forum. Edited April 24, 2006 by adamtrials

chasthetrialsrider
I think its silly that you have to wait to be registered as a member by an administrator any other websites you sign up and away you go and also you cant talk to people in other threads like I need new cranks but couldn't contact anyone in the forsale section Because i wasn't a member and then I need cranks so had to buy new

That means that there is more muppetswho sign up and post stupid threads, use text talk or spam the place up. I visit many forums andthanks to the validation system trials forum probably has the best quality posts (in terms of spelling, punctuation etc). The validation system is unpopular, but it works well and isnt going to go away.
chasthetrialsrider
but how long did it take you to get registered as a member because I have been registered for about 3-4 weeks now and am still a pre member I read in one thread that you can get registered within 2 hours

Tom1989
I think it is a good system validation, as was said above it stops all the idiots posting crap on here etc.ANYWAYBack to the topic to be fair this is a very well organised forum already, what else could you change? accept for the cosmetics but thats a different preference for everybody!cheers tom
tomturd
I don't have the option of trials forum dark as a skin option. If i remember rightly i used to be able to use that skin Will this be back, and possibly some other skins too?IanTheres a dark skin in the works. Just needs a few tweeks, but a few tweeks could take a few hours.. which I dont have spare at the moment sorry.Once i've got all my uni work out the way expect to see it back.. its better than the old one though.Um, cant really see any suggestions in this thread that havent answered themselves apart from that? Any more?
Billy
I was thinking a few more FAQs. The main two I thought could be really useful are -An FAQ on different bike bits - frames/manufacturers, info on products, reliability etc. Or perhaps even a sub-forum where users can post reviews of trials gear? And, an FAQ on bike geometry/other stuff. Long wheelbase vs. short wheelbase, high BB vs. low BB, dropouts (horizontal vs. vertical), front free wheels/fixed cog etc. Basically, thats everything there that I don't really understand, and I wouldn't say no if someone offered to explain them all to me , but something like that could be pretty useful for newer riders perhaps? yoyoyo
There's pretty much everything you need on geometry in one of the threads in the FAQ thats in Trials chat.It mostly tells you what is good for different types of bikes.FAQ thread thing. I was thinking it could be about what kind of effect wheelbases and BB heights have on how a bike rides. Stuff like that. Saves people starting threads about it? GlynnP
What about a link for video hosting with Trials-Shack?He links back to you, I don't think it'd do much harm for you to link to him? I like TF at the moment. Design and graphics are good, and the code works pretty sweet - even on safari.hey i run a PC and a Mac and last time i checked Trials-Forum on my Mac using safari all the replying posts came up at the bottom as links you had to click to get them to show unlike on my PC were they just show up . I cannot remeber if this was before or after the recent updates to site , and so dont know if this has changed since i last checked. I dont know much about PHP but could this be made so is nice/easy on safari?Cheers
Lawnmowerman
A little section for all other aspects of riding like bmx and dirt etc. I know there are quite a few people on here that don't ride trials anymore but still come here like myself. Also is there a way of automatically detecting keywords in topics in the new members bit so they cant start for/sale topics? What about a little button below every new members name so normal members can nominate them for validation? I've seen a lot of people get stuck in new members because they maybe come on here once a week but post top quality replies that don't get noticed by the admin. Dont think we'd do that on TrialsForum as its for trials... but we could make a similar site that shares the same user database (so no need to sign up twice) for other aspects of mountain biking, and put a link to it from somewhere on here. Doubt it'd get used much but it could be worth a try. It'd clean up a load of the BMX threads that are cropping up lately, and give people a place to post stuff if theyre into downhill, XC etc.. Also is there a way of automatically detecting keywords in topics in the new members bit so they cant start for/sale topics?Um, there probably is... but a) would be way too difficult it'd stop new members from ever mentioning the word 'sale' in any of their posts.. but too complex im afraid. What about a little button below every new members name so normal members can nominate them for validation? I've seen a lot of people get stuck in new members because they maybe come on here once a week but post top quality replies that don't get noticed by the admin.Feel free to use the report button and leave a message 'Validate?' or something. I guess we could do with replicating the report function for suggesting validations.. but it'd be exactly the same as the report feature with a few words changed.hey i run a PC and a Mac and last time i checked Trials-Forum on my Mac using safari all the replying posts came up at the bottom as links you had to click to get them to show unlike on my PC were they just show up .Sounds like on your Mac you need to view a topic, click topic options at the top right and change the view to 'standard'

Plus, it means we can help people not get scammed by people just joining up to mess people around in FS/WTD deals.
Apocalypse_reaper666
it would be usefull if the admin could send a pre-member a message or something saying why they havent been validated yet.
flipkickbs
it would be usefull if the admin could send a pre-member a message or something saying why they havent been validated yet. Yes, that would be the least time consuming way of insuring all new members have a chance of being validated Ian
