Latest Revelation From The Church

Greetings

Recommended Posts

Not exactly sure if I'm allowed to post this but having run through the guidelines I feel fairly safe.

I was listening to the radio today, and apparently the Church has allowed for the use of condoms....

... but only for people who have AIDS. So (not that anybody here could be bothered) using a condom is a sin. Now why the hell do they insist on people not using them? I'd probably guess that most of you aren't religious, nor am I, but there's probably over 1 billion christians in the world and many of them will abide this rule. Do we want to finish up with a world as pictured in one of Monty Pythons' sketches?

Simply: what's the point?

Every sperm is sacred.

Every sperm is great.

If a sperm is wasted,

God gets quite irate.

Religion is bollocks really. Just do what you belive is good rather than following things without question.

Yes, but if you were tuley following gods "will" then you would only ever have sex to pro-create.

It is not for anything else.

Well seeing as most people these days arent religous, why should anyone care what this "god" thinks.

Yea, im going to hell.

You all say religion is a load of bullshit but I don't think it would be possible to get as far as we are today, in the way we behave and think. Everytime someone asks 'What's the meaning of life?' There will always be the same two answers, '42' (har-ferking-har) and 'to procreate'. That's it. Since the begininning to time man has needed a reason, no-one has it, but it's good to aim for something. If telling an angry mob of medieval farmers they would all go to hell and live in pain and suffering if they didn't drop thier pitchforks, meant they stopped, problem solved, farmer stops rebeling and monarchy reigns supreme, etc, etc, etc.

It's only now when people don't need religion to give thier lives purpose and meaning that people think they can do anything and nothing will come of it. If only as a method of control, religion has had the most positive impacts on the human race.

Besides, The Life of Brian>*

They've changed God's laws = they're above God = why have religion.

Incorrect Marky boy, they have just "re-interpreted". They believe life is the holiest thing there is, so wasting sperm aka potential life is bad, but they've now decided that spreading AIDS is worse than potentially killing someone. So people who have AIDS get to use condoms.

P.S. Monty python is the shiznit. (Y)

Then you must chop down the tallest tree, with....

Yes...?

With...

Yes...?

A herring!

I have the best ringtone in the world now, text messages;

'*arrow hitting someone* Message for you sir!'

Its from the bit where Concord gets hit by the 'girl' locked in the tower.

But what about the positive aspects of religion? Bringing people together, working to help charitable causes, helping people lead lives with a sense of morals and purpose.

What about providing comfort for those who have lost a loved one? Not everyone will feel the same way, but some people find it very comforting to think that someone they knew has gone to a good place.

I think we live in enlightened times, but everyone still has to find their way in life. Some turn to self-help books, some to their parents, and others to organised religion. Every person has to have some form of idol or person they look upto and emulate. For a young child it may be an older sibling, for others it may be a sporting hero or a celebrity.

People need to find a way through life, and if religion helps them then that's a good thing. We tend to be bombarded with religious fanatics, especially those in the middle east, for whom religion isn't an inward, personal thing, but tool used to show superiority over others. The news shows the latest bombing or war, but never the collections of the local parish which help the elderly through the winter, or help pay for treatment of the sick. After all, C of E isn't really very sexy.

The most worrying thing I've seen recently was on Morgan Spurlock's 30 days. He was asking people on the street questions about the muslim faith. One that kept coming up went:

"What's the first thing you think of when I say Muslim?"

"Terrorist"

Hardly surprising really is it?

Forget the newspapers etc bollocking on about it all the time for the last 5 years. There's been muslim terrorists murdering innocent people all over the world for my entire life (almost 27 years now) and it was going on for a long, long time before that. Libyans, palestinians, chechens (that school massacre), saudis (bin lala & friends), afghans - the list goes on and they're mostly muslim.

The worst part is that (with the exception of the chechens and the palestinians) they aren't out there fighting for independence or freedom like proper terrorists (eg. the IRA) they're out there specifically for the purpose of wiping every non-muslim off the face of the earth - A bit like what Hitler did except this time round the people trying to stop them get branded as Evil.

Before I get slated for being a filthy racist scumbag I should point out that I hate everybody not just specific racial or religious groups.

Oh - and the new Pope isn't as good as the last one. His birthday is on the wrong day (ie. different from mine) for a start

Its just 'cool' to hate religion nowadays i think. I personally think its good, brings people together in a faith, kind of a brotherhood.

And there would be just as many wars without religion, we'll always be fighting over something or another, anyone who blames every war on religion is just stupid (Y)
