Personally I feel that you would have better luck by getting a different frame.

The Da-Bombs are not particularly good frames in terms of quality or geometry.

It may seem like a lot, but a second hand Onza T-Pro would probably be the same

cost as getting the bashplate mounts helicoiled a few times, as it is likely to continue breaking.

I don't think you can fit a bashring to those cranks, so the cost of a bashring and new cranks would

be near that of a good second hand frame.

Thanks and good luck :)

I'm with this guy on this one, but you could re-helicoil your frame, or super glue a bolt inside, and use the thread off that...

I tryed that many years ago with the original Onza T-bird, they fell out again very quickly.

I think the force caused the superglue to crack, thus destroying the thread.

Well I am taking the bike to the bike shop this Saturday and see what they think (the shop I brought it from).

I was going to order the try-all rim this week because I have the hope xc waiting in the shop for me but I don't know if to dispand the idea of a disc for now and save for a new frame

Not quite. If he got his helicoiled (if its a good job, he'll only need it once) it would fix his problem there and then. Otherwise, he could have them tapped out to the next size up, and drill out the bashplate a bit so the bolts get though, and just buy a new set of bolts...simple as pi.

Helicoiling costs pennies, some people charge well over the odds for a heli kit, but go to some crappy carboot and pick up a tap/die set for about a fiver if you're not going to be using it much.

Thanks for that info, when people I know have had items helicoiled it has cost them £15 - £20,

I guess they've gone to the wrong place!

I was just thinking seeing that he has already had it rethreaded once maybe it is poor

quality metal used in the Da-Bomb frames.

The best option is to learn not to rely on the bashplate!
