I dont want to become a workaholic i dont really want a massive house or uber expensive cars. IMO you will, but it'll happen gradually. After finishing uni you'll probably get a nice and well payed job and start getting promoted after a few years. Bet your ambitious and bright, and those are the only people who get to the top. Then it's hard work basically. People are greedy, and if they could be bothered to do something towards earning more money they will. Then the expenses go up etc. We are the future and we'll have to work our asses out to pay for the retired generation... which by then will statistically be much larger comparing to what it is now. Mark W Posted April 24, 2006 Report Share Posted April 24, 2006 On the one hand, we're told that with the rise in e-numbers, fats, additives, and shit like that in our food and drinks that we're going to all become morbidly obese and explode in some kind of skanky manner or die of some heart disease or obesity related illness by the time we're 4, but then we get told that everyone's living too long and that we're going to be f**ked when we're 94? Where are these lard consuming species? Do they congregate in secluded areas of the countryside constantly filling out surveys compiled by some Radio 1 media student? I honestly don't believe that 1 in 4 kids is obese. All my friends are slim, I eat shit food and binge drink every weekend but because I ride it keeps me fit and under 11 stone (I'm a weed lol).As for the mention of an elderly population=its getting worse. Banning smoking in public places and trying to get a 'Healthier Nation' is another of many poxy popularity wanting schemes divided by Anthony Blair. Smoking=destructive, people die younger and generally it's 'lower class' that smoke. So people that don't have the high, A1 type jobs. The money they spend on fags contributes to £9 billion of the U.Ks economy and the three largest companies in Britain are guess what? Tobacco Producers! So theres going to be more people living longer, with less money going into the economy and into the government through the high tax paid on tobacco. Sorry to go way off topic! By the time you get home in the evening, you might find you don't want to see another bike at all! And it's draining work, doing the same old basic repairs, talking to idiot customers and customers who think they know it all. Not to mention trying to wash grease off your hands 24/7 and the little cuts and scratches here and there from fraying cables. It's certainly not an ideal job. I mean, if you love horses - doesn't mean you love mucking them out I work with computers all day, and generally speaking I work more than I probably should. And when I come home, I want to go riding, watch films, socialise etc. (although strangely I do enjoy working with Linux in my free time, but then it's quite different to writing reviews..).Also rememeber, you can't plan your whole life. As long as I've you've got a vague idea, just go for it. If we knew the outcome, the journey wouldn't be any fun It's natural to think about this stuff, just try not to overthink it. Whatever you do, try your hardest. And although it's often hard to see the benefit now, a good education can get you far. In saying that, I dropped out of Uni after the first year (didn't fail though, thanks guys ), but then I've been a freelance journalist since I was 16 and things had started to take off even more when I was at Uni, so I felt that at that point in my life I was better off leaving.
