PaRtZ
everyone else on the road is a retard. remember that. That is a good point, and I feel it needs my story adding to it I (learner....second time in a petrol) was coming past a church on easter sunday with my mum when we came round this blind corner. I had dropped my speed to about 20mph but not expecting much as it was quite a main road and there is a 2 solid lines in the middle of the road, but still i was watching where I was going. Anyway turn the corner, and an old fart is doing a U turn in the middle of the road on the corner so i brake pretty harshly, with clutch down but instead of him moving forward to let me go round, he slams on and handbrakes it so his wife can get out. So I had to reverse back a bit so I could get round him. If I was a passenger I would have been absolutly fuming at him, but I was too busy making sure I didn't stall etc and got away sure enough. But I mean what a dick, of all the places to turn around, a main road on a cornerSo remember, everyone else can't drive for sh!t
munkee
Out of all the stuff said here.. id say over 90% of us dont do it. So in shorter than short, be confident in your ability and what you know. End of the day you could be the safest driver in the world and still kill somebody. Simple. ramps
don't go 60mpg past an undercover police car in a 30 mph limit resulting in 3 points and a £60 fine If you ment 60 mph then that would be a ban, double the speed limited is a ban from driving, apart from on the motorway 100mph is a ban on there. Dai the Socket
WATCH OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES!! Too many accidents occur because people 'just didn't see him coming'. See him coming.Good call Don't go over solid white lines in the middle of the road unless you've got to (parked car, horse, cyclist etc)Don't hover in people's blind spots cos they're c**ts and just change lanes INTO you.Look really far down the road, see what's happening, traffic lights? Parked cars? Queues? Look out for all these things which might need for you to slow down or do something. In your reverse around a corner, look through the back and 3/4 windows a lot, not in your wing mirror much. Examiners prefer that. Also keep lookin' around to check there's no cars etc.You don't have to legally signal when moving off from the side of the road, you do have to legally siganl to stop. Prawny Baby
WATCH OUT FOR MOTORCYCLES!! Too many accidents occur because people 'just didn't see him coming'. See him coming.surely a better idea would be to mow down every biker you see then speed off? if we all did that, we could be rid of them completely in a few months! and never have to worry about the sodding crotch rockets ever again....there would also be a nice healthy supply of bike engines to go into RWD mini projects......!Dont speed... theres my tipyou can shut your face too smelly spacemunkee!theres a time and a place for speeding, and in the right place, in the right car, theres nothing wrong with it whatsoever....i was on a completely open road, i could see all around, there was no body anywhere in sight, and the road was straight. in that situation, i am only a danger to myself, and i was 100% in control, and WELL within my capabilities...... in a car i know better than the back of my hand, which happens to handle and respond better than any car ive ever driven......i really dont see a problem with that myself.... if it was in a 1.1 saxo with 5 chavs inside and stupid skinny tyres on an enclosed road with kids on the pavement.... fair enough.but in what is basicly a road legal race car, on a road i know well, with nobody around, its fine
munkee
lol yea there is, its breaking the law. Thats like people who smoke weed saying its fine its socially accepted.. But its still not legal. Go back and have a read on my speeding topic there were some well thought out posts on speeding even dj's mum put forward some good things to think about.. Prawny Baby
i cant be bothered to find the speeding topic to be honest, i think you should re-read what i wrote....IF it was a bunch of chavs messing around, then yes, its wrong. but in the middle of nowhere, with no hedges for people to jump out of, not a car in sight, i really dont see a problem, its just me in the car. i know my own limits, and i know what is and is not safe. i couldnt care less what the legal speed limit is, as it was set in accordance with how fast a ford anglia could go back in the 60's 70's....... so to be fair, it really means nothing by todays standards.there is a time and a place for everything. the important thing is knowing where and when that is. Rob_P
surely a better idea would be to mow down every biker you see then speed off? Not that you could ever catch one in your toy car

Alexx
When you've passed your test, your not a good driver. Don't think you are. Because you can push the pedals hard and pound the gearstick means nothing.I love watching the lower 6th who are just passing their tests around now, RAG the hell out of their cars down the road, break like mad... then totally f**k up parking in a space 2x as big as their car When you've been driving 5+ years then you have the experience to say you might be a good driver, but untill then remember how easy it is to f**k up!During the day and around town I stay at the speed limit and usually change around 3k revs, I'm a pretty slow / boring driver. There is a time and a place for everything. the important thing is knowing where and when that is.exactly! The only problem with alot of lads is that they seem to think that they really are good drivers, when infact they aren't. I know i'm sure as hell not a good driver... I won't even pretend to be. My dad, now, he's a good driver. I don't even know how the hell he manages to get around / into / through half the gaps and spaces he does, or how he can just keep such a constant speed on country roads. Just 40+ years of experience and racing I guess (and about 10 serious crashes to learn from too! )Late at night on open country road, coming back from friends houses I will just have bursts of pushing the car as fast as it will go. At the end of the day even if something did go wrong all that i'd do was slide off the road and stop in a field. Alright, it's a bit hypocritical, but I need to get it out my system sometimes! munkee
For all the speed vs fines stuff you need go here:http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/Accused_Home/S...peedVSFines.htmit also tells you real life instances so you can see some of the stupid speeds people have gotten away with. My dad was caught doing 120 on motorway, the copper came up to him and gave him the ultimatum (he was already on 9 points at this point) take the fine/points/lose license... or... we have a film crew in the back of my car filming for tonights midlands news on speeding and why more and more people are doing it now. We havent stopped anyone today but you and they only have 2 hours to get it edited and ready... if you do that ill just give you a cash fine..so what my dad do.. went on the news that night lol. Took the penalty notice in to police station to pay it and got some very weird looks for his £60 fine at 120mph talk about f**king lucky! tomturd
Check mirrors everytime you change direction or speed. And pretty much all the time. My driving instructor said once every 5 seconds or so, which seems about right to me.When you've passed your test, your not a good driver. Don't think you are. Because you can push the pedals hard and pound the gearstick means nothing.Very true.. with I'd listened when people told me this.Best thing to do is practice. Theres no way you can concerntrate on checking your mirrors and stuff when your stuck in the middle of a road cos you tried to pull away from a junction in 4th. Once all that stuff becomes automatic you'll have time to check your mirrors constantly, until then you'll have to rely on your driving instructor to do it for you, but thats what theyre there for.
